Re: Glasgow
Do any Glasgow folks or those who've visited lately have any recommendations of somewhere nice to stay for a night? Planning a day out next month and stopping over on a Friday night. We've got dead cheap train tickets but haven't booked anywhere to stay yet. I've only been once before and stayed in...

Re: Indiepop Singalong! @ Indietracks - Saturday 2pm, train
Betty and the Werewolves - David Cassidy. Particularly the shouty bit at the end. Some Deirdres. Preferably "Claire....." but "Fun to pretend" or "Milk Is Politics" would do just as well The Moldy Peaches - Who's Got The Crack? (if it counts as Indiepop. It does in my world) and I guess this is obvi...

Re: Velvet Underground
I've been playing the "VU" album today. Had it sat in my collection for a while, but always went for "Loaded" or "Velvet Underground" instead. Its a pretty great album though - not sure I'll love it as much as their "official" albums but we'll see. The sleeve notes claim VU is the "lost" 4th album, ...

Re: Who's camping?
My friend booked this year, and I wondered why it was 5 quid extra a night. Charging for the car? Barstards.
I don't remember actually being allowed to keep my car on there in the past. Wonder if we're paying 5 quid a night, only to park a mile up the road?

Re: Best of 2012 - powered by Last.FM
I still visit Last fm a fair bit, but don't really do very much with it. I have wondered a few times why an unrepresentative list of what I've been listening to on the computer should hold such fascination, but apparently it still does. More or less gave up on scrobbling the iPod, but very occasiona...

Re: does the music ever win (even when the creator is a tool
Nina Simone gave a really, really horrible interview in the big issue not long before she died. Homophobia, general misanthropy...you name it. Although it was a hatchet job by the interviewer, there was enough substance to his accusations to make me feel a little less respect for her. Her version of...

Re: gender equality and indiepop
It's an odd piece because it seems to draw together quite disparate sources to make a sudden point about tweepop and attitude. It's almost like the writer met an indiepop fan they didn't like once at a disco and it's stayed with them, and they've been looking to get them back ever since. That said,...

I need to buy Words and Music. Soon. I got the So Tough / Mess of Help double CD when that came out. It just reminds me of late spring and early summer. Wonderful songs. Needless to say You're In A Bad Way gets played a LOT at Don't Falter. and of course, if you're ever in a pub with one of those j...

Where is Subside?
Do you have any that are save-able for friends, or are they all online?
I hope this doesn't sound too cheeky. I'll just go and buy one if I know they're only available online.

Ray, did you listen to that CD of Japanese stuff you got? I was pretty jealous of that.

Re: Pic 'n' Mixx mix CD swap - what did you get?
I know "Dancing on my own" was on the list of about 300 songs I wanted to put on the "official" swap CD. Getting it down to 20 took a long time.

Re: Pic 'n' Mixx mix CD swap - what did you get?
Driving to work yesterday to "its the year 2000, is there anyone out there/if you're from another planet wave (put?) your hands in the air!" really made the journey easier. I was travelling through Paisley, grinning to myself. Ta, Ray. And sorry if I got the lyrics wrong.

I dropped "A Day In Space" at the last minute, for a similar reason.
I also dropped "He was a Steppenwolf" by Boney M, but if you feel the lack of this song in your life, let me know.

Re: Indietracks 2012 Memories and Photos
That Vaselines video has left me paralysed. Most of them have but that song. God. I had somehow never actually "got" quite how good a song it is until that performance! Keep watching that video though - it's a fucking beauty! I love the relentless pounding of that drum! Let's also take some time to...

Re: Pic 'n' Mixx mix CD swap - what did you get?
You saved it well Birminghams. I think Gordon McIntyre got my CD. I've never been so glad not to have put Ballboy on a mix! He looked quite pleased with it. And I'm sure he was right to be. Hope the one you got was okay. I doubt it opened up great new musical frontiers for you, looking back at it. ...

Re: Awfully bad indiepop rules!!!
Sometimes the ramshackle approach is the thing I like most of all. The Deirdres spring to mind. I don't think they would have claimed to be particularly slick musicians, but so wonderful - and in my opinion pretty distinctive. And a big part of that was the joyously homemade feeling. I think you poi...
