Are you suggesting Jaipur might be a sort of real ale cover version of Stella Artois?
Yes.

Dunno about Jaipur as Stella, but Punk IPA made me have an argument with my missus. We both stopped short of actual wifebeating, mind.

Speaking of Punk IPA, it's coming out in cans. Little ones like soft drinks come in.

Hai guyz. I got shitfaced dead quickly on Titanic at the weekend. Does that mean I'm a real lightweight?

I well fancy a pint. What you guys were saying about Boggart is one of my favourite things about ale, and (for me at least) it's something that's quite unique to it among other types of booze: trying something you've never had before, and it being so delicious and interesting that you almost can't believe your luck, and you have to have as much of it as you can incase it's not there the next time you go back. I had that over the summer with a beer called Schiehallion (did I mention this before? I can't remember). I only popped into the pub near where I had an interview for one, but this drink was so tasty that I ended up staying for four, I couldn't bear the thought of not being able to find it anywhere else, so I wanted to get my fill of it.

I repeat: I well fancy a pint.

It balances ... in the real lightweight column, you got shitfaced dead quickly, in the hardcore column, you were drinking it at 10.50 in the morning.

The Treasury is increasing tax on beers that are 7.5% abv or stronger, and cutting it on beers that are 2.9% or less.

So mine's a nice cheap pint of... er... anyone?

So Tesco value lager gets cheaper and Westmalle Tripel gets more expensive. Great.

On the negative side it'll discourage brewers from brewing 7.5% plus stuff, but there may be a positive side as well.

It may also encourage good brewers to have a go at producing lowish alcohol stuff that's actually drinkable. Brewdog did their infamous 1.1% Nanny State beer. I never had it but allegedly it was very good. But so weak it comes under the radar and has no duty because it doesn't count as beer

Also I went on a trip to Salt Lake City once. Now you mightn't expect Utah to have very good Micro Breweries but you would be wrong. And due to the local ordinances draft beer is restricted to (I think) 3% or less. The local brewers seemed to have got pretty expert in making tasty (mostly pretty hoppy) beers at 3% or less. Beer that tastes really good that doesn't get you very drunk ... it has it's place perhaps.

The whole thing looks kind of pretentious to me, really.
He emailed me. Seemed like a nice bloke. He was at indietracks this year and last, he runs a brewery and said he wanted to organise a popshow in his brewery ...

I don't know that I have the necessary skill to ask nicely. I always forget if there are any other vegan pop kids, maybe one of them has the social skills for this sort of thing? Coupled with my drinking skillz we could take on the world.
