Good indiepop bands on Bandcamp?

Post by Eardrums Knut » Sun Feb 14, 2010 20:51

I love Bandcamp.com both for checking out new bands (promos etc) and for buying music. Do you know any good indiepop bands using bandcamp?
(I know Apple Orchard, Boyracer, eux autres are there)

Thanks for the tip about the awesomelies. It gave the band another sale. Sounds really nice!
This is just what I was looking for, - smaller bands, interesting bands, who use the service.

These are the other Bandcampers I've found, bought (if possible) and downloaded, - and never trust me to give you only indiepop... "Good music" is my genre ;-)

http://boyracer.bandcamp.com/ (lots of stuff! Some free, and some pay for, if I can remember right)
http://roadsidepoppies.bandcamp.com/ (free ep, really nice!)
http://hariandaino.bandcamp.com/
http://kidcanaveral.bandcamp.com/
http://mapleleaves.bandcamp.com/
http://euxautres.bandcamp.com/ (several releases)
http://thebumblebees.bandcamp.com/ (really cool jangle-synth... A real favourite of mine.)(ep)
http://lookingglass.bandcamp.com/ (the drummer in My Sad Captains, indie-folky kind of thing) (album, pay as much as you want)
http://appleorchard.bandcamp.com/ (several releases, several payment models)
http://wildhoney.bandcamp.com/ (very nice spanish one man band) (very, very good free album, ep, single)
http://rorymcvicar.bandcamp.com/ (folky indie, "pay as much as you want")
http://blackterror.bandcamp.com/ (used to play bass for bumblebees, free single)
http://deathandvanilla.bandcamp.com (Swedish dreamy pop band, a bit Stereolab-influenced, - free ep)
http://vitpals.bandcamp.com (Swedish indie-pop in Swedish, really nice, free album)
http://thesecondhandmarchingband.bandcamp.com/ (ep, very nice indie/folk, ep, pay as much as you want)

Would love to see lots more "anorak" bands on bandcamp!

The sunshine collective song is nice.

Oh yes, and The Super Cutes, who have brought a big smile to my face, and sound very home-made

Vit Päls are good! I think this album is their latest so far, but they will release a new one in the next few weeks, - "Nu var det i alla fall så", which is 21 unreleased homerecordings. This band is mentioned everywhere as "the cult band Vit Päls", and a couple of the Swedes I have contact with on twitter are ecstatic about the new release. I hadn't heard about them before just recently, - but I'm from Norway, so... I see that the bandmembers come from other very good Swedish bands, like Solander (highly recommended!), band in box ++

All of these are new to me, so this was interesting!
Beat Radio sound really good to me too, The Super Cute's are definitely fun!, and The Sunshine Collective's song sound good, but the rest they have on BC sounds a bit too nice, ordinary and sweet for my taste. 2/3 will probably find their way to my collection, - thanks!

Thank you for linking to our song! Our new record is being released on February 23, however it is up on bandcamp and cd baby now. We will be offering a different free track on bandcamp from the record every few weeks. I Just Wanna Play is our current free track.

Cheers!

This is lovely. Mainly because the vocals remind me of that Buggles song.

You're in Nottingham aren't you, Clint? Do you ever play live?
