Depends on if I am home or not!

If I am home, I will put on my cosiest outfit: a warm jumper, grey trousers i pretend look vaguely yoga chic but are actually sleeping trousers, haha, slippers, robe and blankets.

If I need to go outside and feel crap, I usually wear a little black jersey dress I have with thick tights, cardigan and pashmina with flats or boots, or a pair of jeans and something really neutral, like my ruched-sleeve black short-sleeves jumper.

I always tend to choose stuff that to me is really simple, but still makes me feel attractive (as opposed to hiding in stuff because you feel horrid.)

I have a pair of these, and they're brilliant. They're halfway between the tremendous strain of actually properly being dressed, and the shame of just out-and-out wearing one's jammies at 6pm. I like putting them on to eat treats.
Don't be thick in front of me.

haha! i know that feeling very well.

i don't GET people who sit, in the privacy of their own home, in just normal clothes or tights that cut in a little bit or anything even vaguely, vaguely uncomfortable. you know.

the first thing i do when i get home is comfortify my outfit.

expandable/elastic waistbands in trousers like that, or dresses that kinda fall from under your boobs empire-style is the best.

Brilliant, I am not alone! I have some grey pyjama bottoms that I wear around the house too. When I get home from work, I hang my coat up then run upstairs and put them on straight away. Then normally I get a stern look for wearing them because it's not bed time yet.

Grey pyjama bottoms + blanket + Neighbours = relaxed Sarah.

heheh, yes! i am so glad i am not alone too.

i have a special shelf in my wardrobe that is for cosy/home clothes, and my very few pieces of exercise clothes.

it's mandatory when i go to my mum's, especially with my sisters, to wear your cosy clothes, it's ALWAYS an important part of the lovely evening in, everyone going to change, usually after dinner. haha. it's in the family.

I have this really cute little $4 from a thrift store black dress with sort of puffy sleeves that I feel cute in no matter what. And it can look like a different black dress if I put a shirt on under it. It is, perhaps, the best $4 I have ever spent.

I dress like Johnny Cash in those moments.

I don't mean rotting corpse shroud, I mean anything that is entirely black. I tend to end up looking like an undertaking deliverer of milk tray.

Look, it makes me happy. Stop judging.

i do love a good hood when i am feeling sulky. the one on my duffel coat is perfect in winter, protects from the cold AND hides me from the world when i don't want to be seen, hah.

all in black is great, although can be dangerous when you have a cat in the house. if you don't go over your clothes properly with a sticky paper roll (h&m do the best ones!) you may go out covered in cat hair.

ahhh, h&m's sticky paper rolls... they helped me through my sulkiest darkly clad teenage days.

i think a nice fitting dress + tights, or a nice fitting top + jeans and cute shoes always makes me feel good. i don't have many of these things in my wardrobe, but i do have a couple and every time i wear them i feel good (at least about my body)

me too! i always change into comfy tracksuit bottoms/pj bottoms/tshirt when i get home. i could LIVE in my pyjamas.

also, this isn't clothes-related, but i find that if i don't like my hair, i feel ugly no matter how nice my outfit is.

I am a huge fan of 'house clothes'. I absolutely hate sitting around in my outdoor clothes if I'm lounging around. I have a couple of pairs of jogging trousers, worn with baggy tshirts in the winter, or some kind of vest in the summer. Anything that vaguely resembles pyjamas is fair game as far as I'm concerned.

My current failsafe is this geometric-print dress that I got really cheap in tesco. It's just a nice fit and the pattern is lovely and it's not too tight but still fitted a bit. It hides the bits that want hiding, without being shapeless. Sadly, I think some of the stitching has come undone on it because I've worn it so often.

oooh i think i know that dress, lyns! well, you seem to have a ton of beautiful dresses, so i might be thinking about another one.

it also helps in my failsafes for going out amongst people, haha, is just a simple dress but kinda covered with a nice cardigan, a pashmina and thick tights with simple flats. the dress then sort of stops mattering and i don't mind which one it is, as long as it is comfortable.

empire-waist dress, cardigan, (ass-sucking) tights, and maryjanes

And low and behold this is what I'm wearing today! Thank fuck summer's over.

AMEN!

I love that sort of outfit.

I bought a great wool pencil skirt the other day that fit incredibly. It was super snug but looked GOOD.

Then I put it on to wear to uni for the day for a 3 hour screening.

I thought I'd try sitting down in it.

Apart from the instant aesthetic horridness it was to see my body roll-ified, the sharp pain embracing my every last fibre of being making me go "AH!" out loud made me stand up again in about a second. And realise I needed to change it up one size.

But it was like the opposite of a good body image and hottness outfit.

i have various combinations of sleep based trousers and jumpers, tops or tshirts that i stick on when i get in from work and know im not going back out again, or at weekends.

lately for going to work and not being bothered to think about what im wearing, i stick on a denim dungeree dress i have had since im about 15. its the one thing i can virtually always guarantee fits and doesnt make me look ridiculous, esp with a good pair of tights underneath.
i said OK! the wind said no

Oh, for sure...I'll put on my favorite jeans, a button-up shirt, my plaid blazer/jacket, and some fancy shoes. Then I'm way too over-dressed for anything I could possibly be doing, and therefore ready to take on the world!

This might be weird. But when I get home to stay a bit, I usually just lounge around in my boxer briefs and a t shirt. If I were wearing regular briefs I probably would not feel as comfortable, but I somehow justify boxer briefs as near-biker shorts.

i really can't see any justification for wearing trousers in the house. in the winter: they're all wet and puddled, so you have to take them off when you get home. in the summer, it's too hot. the home is a trouserless arena.

to quote some dialogue from the flintstones movie, which has inexplicably stuck in my head since i saw it and was too young to actually appreciate it, on the rift between fred n wilma & the rubbles:
Wilma: I cannot believe you just sat there and let them walk out on us.
Fred Flintstone: At least I can walk around the house in my underwear again.
Wilma: And that is more important to you than 30 years of friendship?
Fred Flintstone: It is on a hot day.
