The Goon Sax. I think this might be my favourite record so far this year.

There's something so comforting about hearing Robert Forster's son singing about haircuts and mentioning Edwyn Collins.

this one's a corker too.

So should have been a 7", up there with last year's Terry single.

I have been doing a spot of clearing and sorting recently, which included checking out a few old video cassettes of music things recorded from the TV.

One of the cassettes had a little feature about a band called 'We Start Fires', who were a punk/pop band from Darlington. They were around in about 2002-2007.

Does anyone know what happened to them? I have been really enjoying revisiting them - and had honestly forgotten about the TV feature (which is also on youtube)

Lead Zombie Mr Blunstone popped up a few weeks ago on one of the 1981 episodes of TOTP that BBC4's working through at present. Note the fabulously incongruous punk in the audience:

Some other personal faves from 1981 TOTP episodes watched recently - either in their entirety on BBC4, or piecemeal from Youtube clips if BBC4 can't show them coz bad men:

That PiL performance still scares me witless all these years later.

Had to finish with my fave one-hit wonder EVER, by the way. Actually surprised this doesn't get played more in indiepop DJ sets/club nights.

Thanks for the tip. This came up on my Spotify recommended list last night and I only clicked on it because I recognised the cover from your post. It's ace!

Is anyone listening to 'Beyoncé - Lemonade'? Because it's really good.

I concur! Apart from that James Blake track plonked in the middle of it for some reason.

I don't know. It's got potential. I've not watched the film (so maybe it fits into that) but Mrs Gordon has and loves it.
