Everyone listen to 6Music now - my old mate and former pop conspirator Stu is about to be on, talking about the birthday mixtape I made him in 1997!

right now i'm listening to The Stooges, but this weekend i had a really awesome time rediscovering The Velvet Underground

they're songs that i've heard so many times they're basically internalised; i thought i'd never really need to listen to em again so i rarely dig em out... that just happens with favourites, i guess, you take em for granted. so it's ace when you listen again years later, with ears reshaped through experience, circumstance and life in general, and find something new in them. or connect emotionally in a completely different way

ach, i'm just blethering i guess

anyway, it was ace

This is why I never get rid of music I don't listen to anymore. Pieces of my life.
I spent A LOT of time with the Stooges and the first three Velvet Undergrounds in my drug addled late teen years. And the Germs. Good lord the freakin Germs. It'll be another ten years before I need to listen to any of that again.

Right now I got my computer's 500 hours worth of music on shuffle. Linda Ronstadt is on.

haha yeah no doubt. I'm in such a music rut that I don't even care what I'm listening to anymore.

I lied though (sort of) it was the Stone Poneys. That shits alright.

And here goes some Kitty Wells!!

i fucking love Nirvana

"Teenage angst has paid off well / Now i'm bored and old" might just be my favourite opening lyric to any album ever

It really holds up, doesn't it?
Love that line too. Just recently saw the movie "Frances" of Frances Farmer will have her revenge fame. Wow! What a crazy story! Sidenote- I remember when my wife was pregnant we played "curmudgeon" in the car and the baby went nuts like he never had before.

i haven't seen that - should give it a go!

now i'm listening to Towards The Low Sun by Dirty Three, the album that came out last year

it's quite rare that i'm in the right frame of mind for this record, but when the mood takes hold it's utterly astonishing

Tegan and Sara's new(ish) record streaming.

It's horrifically catchy.

I've been listening to new LP by Amor de Días a lot. There's more "hit songs" than on their first one which I haven't listened that much since I bought it, but now I'm slowly becoming a fan. Almost no one seems to own their new album according to rateyourmusic or discogs though :( (ok it just came out, but) listen to Amor de Días!

i love "gammy leg", sort of grim and catchy at the same time. these songs were on a split lp with peak twins; nice that they're getting a re-release.
