Lately I've been listening mostly to Asobi Seksu, probably because I'm excited about their new album coming out this week. They're a band that I always forget I like until I put an album on & realize, "Hey, most of these songs are great!"

I've also still really been enjoying the new album from The Babies. "Breaking the Law" is stuck in my head almost constantly these days.

TUNE.

Certainly a highlight of their Indietracks set, for the mere handful of us who watched them. Where were you all, people?

They did - on the lorry stage (when it was still in use), 2008.

"Where's everybody [bad word] off to?", pondered Glenn Melia as he played to one of the very smallest audiences of the whole weekend, "Seems they're scared of our Yorkshire Metal".

Say Yes To Everything and b-side It's Snowing on the Moon were just about the oldest things played, and the Golden Blue album was quite heavily plundered also.

I was actually more disappointed by the absence of Young Nun and pretty much anything from either the Man, I Could Scream or the Love You to Pieces albums than I was his non-playing of the first two Sarah singles, but that stops some way short of an actual criticism. It was a fine set deserving of better patronage.

Besides which, Darren Hanlon had already spoiled me and Old Green Tie On that weekend (possibly even that afternoon) by indulging all our requests of him during his set, e.g.Hiccups. Can't have it all, no matter what Yo La Tengo said. :-)

One Night Suzan - Why Don't You?

It's a proper heartbreaker, this song.

am listening to Image & wishing the barcelona pavilion had made more music. "new materiology" is a classic. three singles, ten songs, plus at least a couple of covers as comp tracks. it's not enough! they were a really interesting band & super-fun live.
