10 Years on Last.fm

Post by Trev » Wed Feb 26, 2014 14:45

Later this year I will have been on last.fm for 10 years (never reset my play count either).

Here are the top 101 'artists' over that time:

12 Freeheat
13 The Smiths
14 The Pains of Being Pure At Heart
15 The Velvet Underground
16 Tompaulin
17 The Primitives
18 Prolapse
19 Keith John Adams
20 Minutemen
21 The Shrugs

So, yeah, that's a thing. It's a bit biased to 2004/2005/2006 when I only listened to music on my PC and scrobbled everything. I play a lot more records these days and they can't be scrobbled.....

It feels odd seeing my listening habits/tastes over 10 years in a list. I wonder what this would've have looked like for past decades.

On mine I am surprised by a few omissions (Pocketbooks, spring instantly to mind).

And there are only 2 or 3 acts that I don't really listen to any more in the list.

I cant immediately think of any big omissions but I'm sure there are loads. Actually, Tallulah Gosh isnt in there which is weird.

Here are my top 100 by first letter as that's what I sort my record collection by, and again, it fits in quite nicely with my collection with a pretty even spread across my record racks apart from the fascination of bands I like to have a name beginning with S!

I'm guessing I've not scrobbled anything in years (except spotify). It was always much more useful when I was a student who played everything through his computer...

Just checked and it's dominated by podcasts from 2008.

Otherwise mostly Withered Hand, Buck 65, and Mountain Goats.
Toot toot.

Trev - you can scrobble vinyl manually (if you're particularly inclined) using the Universal Scrobbler: http://universalscrobbler.invitationstation.org/ :)
