Wild Nothing

Post by MaxS » Tue Sep 04, 2012 09:11

I can't believe there's no own topic for Wild Nothing!?
http://capturedtracks.com/artists/wildnothing/

They (or actually he, Jack Tatum) have made two near-perfect dream pop/shoegaze-ish albums full of ethereal beauty..
The second one just came out, and it's even better than the first (I like the first one more but that's probably because it has so much personal significance as it was "our album" for me and the girl I'm marrying in December). But yeah, the new album even HAS STRINGS, come on.

Ny friend was saying just the other day that he thinks I'd like Wild Nothing. I'll have to get him to play me some.
I am struck speechless by the nape of your neck.

I really like the Golden Haze EP, I thought that was better than the first album. I'll have to check out the new one.

The new album is closer to Golden Haze than the first one was. You'll probably like it! :)

New EP comes out 13th May:
Empty Estate is the follow-up EP to the critically acclaimed Nocturne , which received several year-end accolades including album of the year in Under The Radar and iTunes. The 7-song EP was recorded in Brooklyn at Gary s Electric by Al Carlson in January. The love of dreamy, fuzzy, handcrafted guitar-pop isn't far removed from the Radio Dept. or The Pains Of Being Pure at Heart, but they display a more comprehensive and widespread commitment to classic indie pop sound. Revivalism notwithstanding, the craftsmanship is undeniable and the details are spot-on.
When Gemini came out I was bit worried that Wild Nothing would be one of those new indie hits with one album and then disappearance but boy is he proving me wrong..

I love Wild Nothing, but I'm a sucker for anything mildly 80's-sounding.

Missed them every time they've played Manchester. I need to see them live.

Wow, I really dislike the new EP though, hopefully it's not the new direction..
