The fact that we don't have a Smiths/Morrissey thread is just perverse. I will not partake in this any more.
So here it goes...

Moz and The Smiths are brilliant. No question.
Anyone agree? Disagree?

Agree, naturellement.

Does anyone else still get a bit upset when they think about the day that Morrissey dies?

I hope I go before him.

It will be the bitterest day...
On a positive note, he is about to sign a new record deal!

I heard that Good Looking Man About Town song the other day. I think I quite like it. Is that very wrong?

Not in the least! It's quite a good tune... B-side from You have killed me. The lyrics are quite fanastic.

Actually, just like with my mom, I'm more worried about seeing him feeble and mentally incapacitated. I really couldn't deal with that. I hope he has the good sense to top himself while he's still in his prime.

I'm worried for his nipples already. When we saw him last they were heading towards his crotch at an alarming rate.

In my head he'll always be this.

Miami this Thursday! I wasn't going to go because the tickets were like $100, but I found a pit ticket for $50 on Ebay.

Woo hoo, etc.

I'll keep my eyes off his nipples.

First the nipple talk and now the quiff.Stop trying to ruin Miami for me!

I'm all excited because the recent setlists have some exciting things on them.

Also, I get to laugh at my friends* who spent twice as much money as me on crappy seats while I'll be all up in the front.

*They're total jerks who hounded me relentlessly when I failed to get a ticket the week they went on sale.

I'm so sorry. I should have protected you. There's no reason that information couldn't have died with everyone in that room.

His mistake was trying to caputure that magnificent volume of his youth. There's just not enough product in the world.

oh my god. you're not serious about the quiff thing, right? i mean, i'm sure you're not, but i kind of think maybe you might be. that is a horrible image.

i'll still love him though, droopy nipples, fake hair and all.

The Smiths were great, Morrissey's solo work is very patchy though.

Releasing another solo greatest hits isn't a great idea either, he runs the risk of lurching into further self parody.

Still he's entertaining live.

It's about 15 years too late already.

I totally am, but I feel like I've shot Santa Claus and strangled the Easter Bunny. I'm so sorry.

I have received a flurry of disbelieving e-mail (OK, one) about this and this was my reply. I swear to you I was not on any drugs and I cannot explain to you why it didn't make the papers. Remember this is pre-interWebs:

It was the Your Arsenal tour. I saw him at a very small college venue. Some guy jumped on stage, pulled his quiff off (!) and Morrissey got mad and left the stage. It's all a bit of a blur, but he didn't come back on after that. It was at the end though. NO ONE talked about it.

It was the very front bit. The most sticky out bit. Like a quiff "extension". His "real" hair looked more like it does now (15 years on like).

I'm sorry :(

I *think* the guy was escorted out. The rest of us walked out mumbling, "Did that dude swipe his hair?" There was shock, horror, and eerie silence. But I know what I saw.
