that bit is brilliant. I think it was on the strength of that that I formed the impression that old Haines was from the North of England. Which he isn't.
Hello Ian! I didn't know you were on here.

I think he's inhabiting a character in that song. He's actually from Reading or somewhere like that I think.

Really must read this book.

Went to see him last night. Really like the new album, albeit prefer a couple of the tunes acoustically in session than with guitars n strings n shit

Here's my rambling 'reveiw' of the show http://jamboshoeshine.wordpress.com/200 ... luminaire/

As anorak's Luke Haines correspondent, here's what I thought of his album. http://jamboshoeshine.wordpress.com/200 ... ntury-man/

No. 4 on my albums of the year list!

New book out largely dealing with the Black Box Recorder years - first couple of chapters upto standard of Bad Vibes.

He did a Q&A between sets at QE Hall last night - a bit rambly but worth it for his contempt for record company who thought a song with the chorus "Life is unfair, kill yourself or get over It" would make a good single. Also told a tale about him and John Moore feeling guilty about Sarah Nixey being made to sing that - so try to write a song based on Billie Piper's Honey to the Bee to provide a hit single.

That bio is a must read. Revealing and entertaining! Lots of bad-mouthing too :O

Presumably you meant would NOT make a good single?
Like others hither and yon, I fanny around at music - my band is always on the look out for other bands to split releases with. Any cockamamie idea considered - cassette, 7" vinyl, yellow flexi disc, wax cylinder and shellac 78s. PM me. ; - )

Anyone heard the new one, "New York In The 70's"? I liked the "Rock N Roll Animals" one. Was thinking about ordering it from Cherry Red and came across the Servants unreleased album on there as well. Is it good?
