The Radio Dept.

Hopefully someone else is also interested in the best band ever ...

The new album should be released in Mai or June as far as I know. Meanwhile you should check out the official MySpace Site

I love the Radio Dept, there's something so dreamy and laid back about their music. I wish I could see them play live.

Well, they are definitely not the best live act and probably they have some We-Don't-Play-More-Than-30-Minutes policy as well. But their records are amazing from my point of view. This Past Week is the best track ever and even live they seem to improve: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=0tyXDXdcfmQ

They were pretty good when I caught them last year.

And what's wrong with 30 minutes max? Sounds like the ideal length of time to me. You had not better go and see the Manhattan Love Suicides though - they clocked 18 magic minutes in Stoke last week and just a couple minutes more at their other gigs!

I like short gigs. Leave 'em wanting more!

"I don't need love, I've got my band" is my favourite track, although I haven't heard that many. They're a weirdly good band to listen to while driving, I've found...

Their tribute band should be called The Radio Debt.

Hopefully they currently don't need a tribute band, but the name is definitely not too bad ...

Maybe after the next album, which is scheduled for Mid 2008, as one can see on the Labrador Homepage http://www.labrador.se/

aw I love radio dept, but I have to agree and say they're not the best live band. Looking forward to the new lp, I adored the last one, 'it's always a relief' has been my favourite recently.

They are one of my favourite bands (in the top 5), but I know I would be dissapointed by their live show. There is just too much going on on their records to reproduce it well live. Plus they never play shows, so its not like they have a lot of practice live.

They also don't have an engaging enough stage presence to make up for the lacking sound. Another one of my favourite bands, the Legends, made up for their sound deficiencies live because Johan (the guy behind the Legends) is such an engaging person on stage. So even know they didn't sound as good as they do on record, they still put on a very entertaining show.

I've seen the band four times, and I have only been rather disappointed once, at the We & You show in 2004. A lot of things just seemed to go wrong at that gig I guess.

It's not too hard to recreate the songs more or less like the album versions since they usually bring an mp3-player or a laptop to play backtrack from. The guitars sound pretty damn sweet live, like in Ewan and Why Won't You Talk About It? etc etc

"it's always a relief" was easily my favorite song off "pet grief" - everytime i hear it, i want to lay down on a couch, close my eyes and smile.

I really love Lesser Matters but wasn't as sure about Pet Grief. Heaven's on Fire sounds pretty nice though.
