Moscow Olympics

Post by jorgen » Fri Dec 28, 2007 17:13

Hi,
Well, as this is my very first post on Anorak... my name is Jörgen, I live in Göteborg, Sweden. I run indiepop label and mailorder Fraction Discs together with my girlfriend Renée. I used to run the fanzine Try Happiness and have been involved in some clubs in Göteborg (Starke Adolf, Blommor & Bin...). Anyway, here's the thrilling news:

...

MOSCOW OLYMPICS
Still
(7", Fraction Discs)

The term “dreampop gets a new and wider meaning when the Philippine quintet Moscow Olympics release their debut single on Fraction Discs. Pop as a dream come true, two tracks that raise their gaze off their shoes, stare into the skies and fill the unexpected yet somehow eagerly awaited gap in your record collection - the one between Blueboy’s “Unisex and The Wake’s “Here Comes Everybody. Included is a code that allows you to download the songs in mp3 format.

Tracklist:
A. Still
B. Talk Like This

Have a listen to Moscow Olympics at http://www.myspace.com/moskva80

This 7" is now available at Fraction Discs

Welcome to Anorak

And also: Yay!

I love Moscow Olympics, such a brilliant band and I'm so glad that someone has put out a release by them.
And by me, I mean, Flexo.

My copy of this turned up in the post today and it's absolutely lovely.

I dont know what it is, the dream like quality of the song or something similar maybe, but it reminds me of when I first started getting into indiepop. Loads of memories of opening parcels with Sarah Records in them and putting them on to hear a trembling piece of guitar work cut through the silence to sound like the best thing ever written.

I really like this band.
And by me, I mean, Flexo.

Eric, who used to write here but it's no longer updated, sent me a load of filipino indie pop. It's very impressive. I really liked Spring Boutique.

I must review that single. I have had it for a week or two now.

I'm going to order my copy on Friday when I get paid.

I've been listening to 'Still' constantly on the myspace all month. It's so amazing.

I'm loving these The Wake inspired bands around at the moment.

I accidentally bought two copies of 'Still', so if anyone wants the spare one for no money, drop me a line. It's ace.

Me and a friend is running a Swedish label called Lavender. We have recently released a mini-album with Philippine pop quintet Moscow Olympics.

You can listen to the band here:
http://www.myspace.com/moskva80" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Previously they have released a very fine 7" at Fraction Discs.

Hope you enjoy the music!

Hello! Is that Andreas? Moscow Olympics mini-lp is AWESOME!!! I listened to it yesterday (a rather difficult and stressful day for me) and it brightened my evening and mood!!Highly recommended for the Field Mice fans and perfect for swedish guitar pop aficionados (Celestial, the Charade, Sambassadeur, The mighty Radio Department ). Grab this record and play it again and again.
I heart Philippino and the southeast asian guitar pop bands so much...
And the cover is a beauty!
I slice the surface here beside you/Lungs filled liquid yell I love you/Sound moves further underwater
Deep and dark my submarine bells groan in greens and grey/Mine would chime a thousand times/To make you feel okay..

got my copy of 'Cut the world' today. I've been very slow on getting some new releases this year. I can't quiet work out why. But back to Moscow Olympics. The mini LP is amazing, one of the best releases I have heard this year on first impressions.
