My first exposure to Los Campesinos! was through playing with them in Cardiff in 2006, when I thought they were bloomin marvellous and lovely chaps also (although admittedly I think every band outside of London are lovely, simply because they actually talk to me... but yes), and had more of a slow edge to them (lots more building intros and violin).

Now I just find them to be getting more and more ordinary as the singles go on. Their heart is in the right place, and they're a welcome change from some bands, but they just get more overproduced each time I hear a new song. hmm.

I hated the tweecore song also.

(also, is this the time to admit that I actually quite like plan b? I can't help it. I'm a fool for pretentious writing.)

Johan, I don't know where you got the idea that they are disappointing live from. We went to see them in Exeter a while ago, partly because we sort of liked them, and partly because they were playing in Exeter, for f***'s shake!

And even though it was mid-week, and it had been a very long day, and the next one would be too, and even though it was Halloween, and the venue (which I hate anyway) was full of [s]people[/s] students dressed in ways that made them look even more stupid than their usual ways do, and even though the support bands were rather crap, and even though we felt tired and sleepy and ever so old, and even though they took for-ev-er to start playing... oh and even though the boys were dressed as girls and vice versa.... we walked, no, run to the train station very happy indeed. And I had to admit there aren't many bands who would have had that effect on me. They were fun, and unpretentious in a pretentious way, and just contagious.

Earlier today I was listening to some sort of thing on last.fm, and I was confused about how it decided to play me Art Brut, but then I figured out it was Los Campesinos! (!)

I sort of think they sound kind of alike, especially the male singing stuff.

i was wasting some time in the music section of my local department store this evening and they had los campesinos! (ugh, i don't like the exclamation mark) on their listening post thing. i listened to a few tracks and i quite liked some of them, i was kind of surprised. they were also on the front of the music magazine they had there called 'cookie' along with belle and sebastian, bmx bandits and some others i can't remember.

I want to like them because I like them as people but they don't have any particularly good songs. I saw them live a few times and they still didn't do anything for me.

Just when the money was about to come rolling in. Los Campesinos! appear to be soundtracking all of XBox's new adverts.

No chian venues, I wonder if that was a concious effort?

There's something on the website about trying to make sure they got venues that weren't 18+ as much as possible - so that may have something to do with it.
Amused that where people have moaned about the band not playing in their town, Gareth has replied telling them train times and prices. Except for Nottingham where he just said it was shit last time they played there.

heh! Well it alll sounds nice.

They're not playing in Brum, either. 3million people within bus access, why bother?

EDIT

They're playing Coventry, I'll let them off (some would say Coventry is punishment enough, arf!)

Some say Coventry is a 'concrete jungle', which I think is a little unfair on jungles...

I liked this:
In October last year, Swells wrote:

“I have seen the future. It’s Garry Bushell being kicked senseless by Gareth from Los Campesinos! forever. So it’s not all bad.”

I promise, if I ever get the chance, for the only good thing I can think of to ever come from Swindon, I will do that. Steven Wells, you will be missed.

Selling their old glockenspiel for Haiti, and the price has nearly sextupled (is that a word?) within just over half an hour: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0398559424

As if they lacked enough credibility on here as it was. Thanks rockitmarty!
