The Tuts

Post by RITH » Tue Jul 10, 2012 23:02

Punk? Indiepop? Who really cares? It's catchy and it's exciting.
It's Nadia, Beverley and Harriet. It's The Tuts!

Debut EP out today!

Also: first ever interview in Candy Twist #2 by Jennifer Doveton from Colour Me Wednesday. Harriet is obviously also in CMW.

Considering the amount of insinuation, libel and sheer abuse that have been thrown at The Tuts over the last week on other sites, it's refreshing to have something positive to focus on. In that sense this long-planned EP release is very good timing.

Just when you're used to the post-libertines vocal drawl of tracks like Call You Up and Beverley, the band pulls out a song like All Too Late where Nadia's voice seems to open up a whole new pop direction for the band.

And some of their best songs - Back Up, Tut Tut Tut - are yet to come

Their interview in Candy Twist is alot of fun too: highly recommended :)

Just listening to them on Hayes FM, playing an acoustic set. Flashbacks to taping Kenickie on Mark & Lard 15 years ago.

Also, I had the luck to see them do a set at the Buffalo Bar last week. It was absolutely f*cking brilliant, honestly one of the best I've seen from anyone in ages. In the year and a half since I last saw them they've become great performers and increasingly good songwriters.

Can't wait for 'Tut Tut Tut' to come out in some form: a lovely tune and a proper statement of intent.

Was just listening to that on Hayes FM but switched off when the DJ followed them with Ocean Colour Scene.

I know, WTF? Maybe they asked for it ironically but I can't see it. I hope you switched back, you missed loads otherwise..

Saw them yesterday at an event at Uxbridge. They only played for about 15 minutes as friends Colour Me Wednesday played a full set and the whole thing was overrunning.

The council don't like bands playing too late in the day, it was only 5pm, the good citizens of Uxbridge obviously need their quiet time. The band displayed their revolutionary instincts by refusing to stop playing and launched into a cover of Rudi Can't Fail before their mikes were switched off. To a rousing shout of "FUCK THE TORIES", they stormed off.

Brilliant entertainment from both bands.

The Tuts are performing live tonight at the Watford Palace Theatre, it will be streamed live at thespace.org http://thespace.org/items/e00017kq?t=qj9x at 8pm.
They're playing 2 songs and are on second. So go to that website and watch the Tuts from the comfort of your living room tonight at 8pm.

Also, the Tuts would love it if you'd livetweet @mummyjipresents (that's the show) and @thetutsband to let them know what you think.

Jagz Kooner is a UK born producer who has worked with Radio 4, Manic Street Preachers, Primal Scream, Garbage and Infadels.
Very curious how that's going to turn out. Nice for them!

I'm curious.

Whenever bands I like have a shed load spent on production I often am not so keen on the results (POBPAH 2nd album is the most obvious recent example....). But yeah, I'm still curious to hear what happens.
