and the chords, the chords! http://colourmewednesday.bandcamp.com/track/sweaters

and this!

Still the best band in the country, y'know. If it was a competition.

I'm loving the new release as well -- great songs, and great musicianship without over-production. I was especially partial to tracks like "Holiday From Your Life" and "I Thought It Was Morning" on the LP, and these new ones are new favorites.

When I was listening to the release on Bandcamp I saw the tour dates on the right and was disappointed to see that CMW were jumping from NY to DC to Chicago without visiting my town. In the course of listening to the other band on this split release, I discovered that the tour dates are much more extensive. So in case any Americans made my mistake, here's the list from CMW's facebook (I believe all shows are with Spoonboy unless otherwise noted) -- kicks off tomorrow!:

In "sentences that seem weirder just in typing them", CMW are supporting Daphne & Celeste at Leicester Firebug on 2nd April.

I don't get this Daphne & Celeste thing.

So in 2000 they were bottled at Reading because they were essentially a manufactured pop band that appeared randomly on the bill because they asked to. Then they disappeared for 15+ years.

And now they are back. Are they more credible? Are they retro? Are they ironic?

This is not a slur on them or anyone who is playing with them/putting them on, but I just don't understand!!!!!

In 2000 Daphne & Celeste were a big hit amongst indiepop fans in Sheffield and filled the dance floor whenever they were played at Offbeat.

They were bottled by misogynistic lad rock loving twats at Reading.

They're a great pop band - some of the best pop is 'manufactured' and much better than a lot of the landfill indie that plays at Reading.

I'm more excited by this gig than any for years and the fact that it's at the Firebug with Colour Me Wednesday just makes it extra special.

And the thing that's made me cross is that you're using the fact that they were bottled as an indication of their worthiness or credibility but it's just an indication of violent, loutish behavior by a bunch of knobheads who were upset that 'their' festival was being invaded by girl cooties.

And the fact two teenage girls finished their set while grown men threw bottles at them when pretty much any of the other band would have stormed off in the same situation makes them a lot more credible.

I'll shut up now...
