Ok, we can finally announce details of Darren's shows in Manchester, which will be taking place in Godlee Observatory. The venue only holds 30 people, and Darren will be doing a space themed set. Oh, and gig entry also includes a tour of the observatory and the telescope!

AMAZING!

Interesting stuff! I know very little about Essex so I've been appreciating these albums based on the stories rather than the settings, but it's good to read a different viewpoint from somebody with the relevant background knowledge. Nice to see Darren's point of view in the comments, too!

I haven't got into Essex Arms anywhere near as much as Pram Town yet (and I suspect that I won't) but I think this is more a case of Pram Town being a work of genius rather than Essex Arms being a disappointment as such - I think Pram Town is the best thing Darren's ever done. Essex Arms seems a bit less inspired (that "I really do / I really do / I really do / I love you" chorus is a bit tame especially) but it's still a really lovely album and has a really nice laid-back vibe to it.

I really like this LP!

Although as a concept album it should perhaps be titled "more songs about dogging and cars"
Cheers!

This. I think it may have overtaken The Fidelity Wars, something I didn't expect to happen.

The new album has got some great songs on it - "Winter Makes You Want Me More", "Super Kings", "Nothing You Can Do About It" but perhaps doesn't hang together as well as Pram Town.

"Calling Out Your Name Again" is brilliant! It should definitely be a single as I have already mentioned to Sean. Probably in my top 10 songs of the year so far.

I think the new album is wonderful - improves with every listen.

Calling Out Your Name Again, Super Kings, Spiderman Beats Ironman, Dagenham Ford are all great songs.

Quite a few people have said that about "Dagenham Ford". It doesn't do anything for me.

Sure Darren will be pleased there'll be no 'camera' incident this time!

Michael took a photo of Darren Hayman with a sweaty armpit and some cellulite on his dog's leg and sold it to Nottinghamshire Today for £45. They've not spoken since.

Darren did a top acoustic set at the "At The Edge Of The Sea" fest in sunny Brighton yesterday!

Highlights were the first track - "Nothing you can do about it" and the last but one - "The day that Thatcher dies"

After "TDTTD" he said he thought it might be a bit spiteful - she deserves it, Darren, she deserves it!
Cheers!
