Tennis

Post by thewronggirl » Sat Jul 10, 2010 22:51

Hello, can anyone tell me anything more about Tennis? The band comprised of a husband-wife duo who make lush dreamy pop songs from Denver, that is, not the game played at Wimbledon. All I can seem to find is a single on pre-order. Does anyone know if they've released or have plans to release anything else?

Bit obsessed with their song Marathon at the moment.

I don't know much about them either, but there's a bit more info here, as well as the mp3 for their song South Carolina, which is quite catchy.

What a great band!
All their songs seem really good!

Can a kid hope for "Marathon" to be given a spin at this weeks' HDIF?

someone told me about 'marathon' yesterday and i can't stop listening to it! i like the fact that the whole internet has kind of converged upon it at once. well, this part of the whole internet at least.

really like their songs.

annoyed at a label that puts out a debut 7" by a heavily-blogged band & allows it to sell out at the pre-order stage (plenty of time to increase the size of the order at the pressing plant) but i daresay it'll be widely available from distros & with luck they'll re-press immediately. ordered it from puregroove, insanely expensive but a similar price to ordering a single copy from the label.

Heavily blogged is right. I completely missed reading anything about them until recently. Crayon Fields is playing with them at one of their East Coast shows in October and when I got curious about this band, it was like a Pandora's box opened up (in a completely good way!). I love what I've heard, and what a great story behind their music that ties in with their long-planned sailing trip, apparently with wild abandon. What a success story.

terrible design + lame moneybags record label (don't like their habit of buying up back catalogue as well as poaching bands) + 6/10 of the album tracks previously released. great.

Haha! It looks like a '70s Roxy Music album cover. I guess that's what they were going for.

Apparently it's a homage to http://oi52.tinypic.com/8zl06e.jpg
Never heard of it but I guess it's some obscure 60's pop gem

The album is wonderful. Her voice is pretty special and the songs are so well written. Love it.
