Did anybody mention Twig and The Faintest Ideas (ex-Javelins) ?
Both deserve a huge stand-up !
Twig for their mastery & melodic accomplishment, The Faintest Ideas for their intense, passionate and uncompromised -too short- career...

That "life in a swedish song" compilation is awesome, isn't it (lovely sleevedesign and all).

There is so much diversity in Swedish pop, there is something for everyone there !

I would also like to nominate :

Cocoanut Groove

Matthias and the Everyday Mistakes

the Bear Quartet "it only takes a flashlight to create a monster"

And Aerospace were a fantastic band indeed ... much missed.

Don't forget the Shout out Louds - saw them live a few years ago at Camden and they were just fantastic - amazing stage invasion at the end!

Shout Out Louds are great - definitely fall into the "I cant believe they are not more famous category"

So many great Swedish pop bands. I have been to Stockholm a few times and it is amazing thing to go into a large store and hear a Cats on Fire song or go to a bar and see people singing along to and Orange Juice song. It's amazing.

Some of my favourite Swedish pop bands that I don't believe have been mentioned and aren't on Labrador (because pretty much all of the Labrador bands are great). I'm sure I am forgetting loads.

Boat Club
Gentle Touch
Girl Alliance
Blind Terry
Double Dan
Celestial
LK
Honeydrips
Japan Air
Tidy Ups
Kissing Mirrors
Heaven's Just a Kiss Away

Now only they are "Everyday Mistakes". I like when it is possible to see dark dyes in the bands, as well as also Tillmanns, Twig or The Lost Homeboy.

We can complete the list with new bands added a posteriori....
Have a look and tell me if you know any myspace or web of any band.

Now only they are "Everyday Mistakes".

Yes, I know ... they used to be Everyday Mistakes to start out with, didn't they ,

I have been waiting for years for them to release another record after the debut ep. They have so many great songs on their myspace. I'm sure they could release a wonderful album.
They do seem to be a little deeper than most current Swedish bands ... there is darkness and light in their songs.

Has Eggstone been mentioned yet ? I think they were one of the first bands to point me into the direction of Swedish pop (hm, after ABBA of course who were my childhood favourites ... showing my age here, hahaha).

"summer and looking for a job" is just such a wonderful song ... brings back so many great memories.
I think it was Bob Stanley of Saint Etienne who pointed me into their direction. I remember he had a publicity photograph for that Eggstone single on the wall behind the desk of the Saint Etienne fanclub office in Soho at the time (ah, those were the days).
