Very Truly Yours/Tiny Fireflies/Fireflies/Tiny Microphone

Post by Eardrums Knut » Tue Nov 04, 2008 07:30

I think I'm in love with this band!
They were on our latest compilation ("A Good Crop") , and charmed me then, but the new song they have on their myspace now, "Every Little Thing" is so so so good! Highly recommended! This quartet from Chicago includes Lisle from Fireflies on guitar. They have recently been in the studio and recorded some new songs, so I hope there will be a release of something from them soon.
Check them out here:

CHICAGO REPRESENT! It has been too many years since we've had a gorgeous, pure pop band (if we ever did have one, really). Yes, they are extremely talented and formed in less than a month it seems! Three-fourths of Very Truly Yours were in The Lorimer Sound, who have a darling single on WeePOP! The Lorimer Sound split in July I think? I saw their last show, and then I saw their first show as Very Truly Yours just over a month later.

As you mention, Very Truly Yours includes Lisle Fireflies, but equally important is the talent of Kristine who records under Tiny Microphone, and she has put out songs on the Best Kept Secret label as well as Series Two.

Very talented this lot are.

Aww, this sound I'm hearing from their myspace right now is so nice. So what's up with Chicago being so awesome lately? When I lived there it was all endless post-rock noodling (and it seemed a certain idealistic state senator would never expand his base beyond Hyde Park).

I interviewed The Lorimer Sound's Christopher a month ago, and among other things he said "I think you can expect another EP within the next year." Yay!

Oh, honey, there is still plenty of that post-rock noodling going on. I wouldn't say there is an overwhelming amount of awesomeness here right now! But I'm glad that there are some diamonds in the rough like Very Truly Yours.

That's interesting. I thought the band had disbanded, but I guess he'll keep working under that name? I'll be curious to hear what his new songs sound like.

Christopher: The 'band' is mostly just me, but I always welcome the help of friends to add to the music.

And: If all goes according to plan, the next EP will not be as bright. I want to continue along the lines of Notre chanson en Francais as far as keeping the songs more melodic and not as poppy, but we shall see.

Haha! Yes, I'd seen that, Dennis! :D That "Notre chanson en Francais" song wasn't sung by Kristine so I think there will be a departure in sound for Christopher's new recordings. I guess from talking to Lisle and Kristine, I thought the Lorimer Sound had broken up. I don't know the gossip; hopefully there were no hard feelings and there is certainly room in this city for more pop groups. Still, for pure gorgeous pop, I really think Very Truly Yours are the band to watch. Kristine is like an Amelia Fletcher for the new generation!

Oh... ok! Of course you did. I'm curious about Very Truly Yours now. The new myspace flash musicplayer doesn't work at work though (not that my colleagues would let me listen to that anyway).

I just got a message from Christopher that confirms what RITH just said:
"The lineup that worked on the last EP is not together anymore, however, TLS is still working on a second EP w/ a new lineup that we plan to have out in Summer."

RITH: If you haven't got it already, you can download "homesick" from VTY on Volume 1 of "A Good Crop", here: http://eardrumsmusic.com/the-label/a-go ... -volume-1/.

Very Truly Yours fans: you know about their brand new wee split with the Understudies on Cloudberry, yes?

(I just love the idea of CD splits!) :-)

I discovered Very Truly Yours not much time ago and i was really charmed by the beautiful melodies and sweet voice by Kristine. The song "reminder" is a wonderful song , so dreaming and catchy. "homesick" is another ray of sun and the other songs are brilliant.
I love this band :)
Cheers from Italy

p.s. Have you ever heard "Two If By The Sea" ?? A must for Cat's Miaow fans.

At their New Haven show and at NYC popfest, Very Truly Yours did a cover of The 6ths' "Falling Out of Love with You" that was so, so good. I hope they record it.
