That's a lovely idea, Colin! I am not on twitter but I am sure all those amazing lyrics will put a smile on many people's faces.

I can't really describe how much I missed the Lucksmiths. I need to find my photos from their last ever gig in London (and Marty's birthday party afterwards) and put them up on my long-neglected Flickr. That was a night to remember! Meeting one of my music icons was one of the best things that ever happened to me. Tali is one of the friendliest, funniest and most down to earth guys you'll ever meet.

Today, the Lucksmiths lyrics for me are:
Take off Friday for the coast
In summer they’d go southernmost
Where the sky was swimming-pool blue
And the swimming pool was too

Tali, Tali *sigh*

PS: I know one day my dream will come true - Pete and the Sweet Nothings will cover a song by the Lucksmiths :-)
I slice the surface here beside you/Lungs filled liquid yell I love you/Sound moves further underwater
Deep and dark my submarine bells groan in greens and grey/Mine would chime a thousand times/To make you feel okay..

Aww, that's lovely, Colin :-)
I am struck speechless by the nape of your neck.

Does anyone know a good tab site for the luckies? I tend to use this one... http://music.owenm.co.uk/lucksmiths/ but it only contains old records, so im hoping someone knows of a site with more recent songs on it.

I've only cottoned on to the Lucksmiths.

I've been tortured by the melody of Now I'm even further away going round in my head for a few years, not knowing who it was by, just some Indiepop band I'd heard and failed to catch the name of. Then I recognised his voice from the Scared to Dance Fortuna Pop! CD and I it struck me then that they were probably also on the Bowlie Fanzine Fortuna Pop CD, which I've lost now but managed to find traces of on my old IPod.

Is there a Lucksmiths/Bart and Friends connection? I vaguely remember reading something. Make you Blush is one of my all time favourites, but I think it's about to be overtakern by Warmer Corners.

Louis Richter, who joined The Lucksmiths after the original three members and played lead guitar, also plays on Bart and Friends records. He's one of Bart's Friends. I think that's the only link, although I could be wrong.

How about: Lost and Lonesome Recordings Co release Bart and Friends' records. One of Lost and Lonesome Recordings Co's founding members is Mark Monnone, aka bass player of the Lucksmiths.
Night, and someone has turned up the volume on their TV too high, an interview from Bosnia-Herzegovina 1995: They shoot babies, don't they? Yes, they shoot babies, too. (Followed by pop songs by eg. Genesis.)

-- mark has also played on bart & friends records
-- both lucksmiths and bart & friends had releases on drive-in
-- the label / artist connection flows in both directions cos there was a lucky ladybugs (lucksmiths & ladybug transister) song on the indie aid abroad compilation that bart put out.

there are probably tons of connections.

LAST LEAVES: NEW PROJECT FOR LUCKSMITHS MEMBERS

Say hello to Last Leaves, a new band consisting of three Lucksmiths members — Marty Donald, Mark Monnone and Louis Richter — and Noah Symons of Great Earthquake fame.

Busily writing and rehearsing in the Dandenong Ranges, the group has found their sound coming together effortlessly and unhurriedly: at once warm and dynamic, the at-times-complex rhythms woven together by intriguing guitar and bass melodies. And after a two year hiatus, Marty Donald's songwriting pen hasn't run dry of vibrant imagery and despondent wit.
Eeeeeeeeeeeee!

The noise I made when I read this was not of this world.

I am so, so, so excited. The solo demo on Soundcloud is obviously very stripped-back but the song is as beautifully constructed as I could have hoped for and I CAN'T WAIT for them to release something. Oh wow.

I too am loving the demo on soundcloud.

When I clicked play, I had a stupid amount of reservations about it not being Tali's voice singing, which is stupid I know, but I was just hoping for something that wasn't horrible. And it wasn't. It's really nice, and really Lucksmithsy!

This song could have easily been on Spring A Leak - which to me means my favourite ever band are pretty much back to where they left off.

Oh, and apologies for the double post people. Clearly I was far too excited when I heard the news this morning!

I felt (and feel) similarly. The Guild League made me realise that while I love Tali's voice what I *really* miss about the Lucksmiths is the quality of Marty's songwriting, and this gives me total confidence that it's as good as it ever was. I want them to hurry up and make a proper studio recording! *impatient*
