I'm really addicted to Sing Along With... right now. 7 Days is such a gorgeous wee song! Any other fans here?

me, me :-) I love them! Acid house kings was probably the first swedish pop band I heard many, many years ago. Their first 7" EP, Play Pop!, in Marsh-Marigold is a real GEM! Johan is so talented-I also heart his other bands and projects (Club 8, Poprace,The Legends)

According to groups' website they will be releasing a new album very soon. Hope it won't take long.

Oh dang, you know what this thread calls for, don't you? (one of my biggest pin-up photos of all time)

I like the Acid House Kings but I REALLY like the Legends. Though I wish I could get a hold of their super early songs where they were all unproduced and super earnest and just WENT for it, flailing around blindly like "Song of the Colour Red."

Meow--move over Bjorn Borg! I'd like to smear them on toast and eat 'em up!

I just adore Acid House Kings. So many of their songs are just so darned pretty yet danceable; also well arranged and I love boy/girl switch-off singers in general. And I love how they always pose like a 70s, wholesome, B-list ABBA in photos. It's very cute them parodying that goody-two-shoes side in the "7 Days" video.

They have a lovely way of mixing lush B&S-style arrangements (w/orchestra and trumpets and pretty jangle) with disco; for e.g., "Tonight is Forever"

It's very hard to chose, but I'd say my favorite AHK song is "Wipe Away Those Tears"because the chorus harmony is so pretty and I love the little B&S-like piano tinkle and the lovely snare-only drums and so many other charming little touches.

I saw them live once and they have so much fun. Here's a great version of "Yes! You Love Me" live at Cake Shop a couple of years ago. Organ! Gorgeous.:

And they're on Labrador, so automatically awesome.

I would love to get a copy of their debut LP on CD but it seems pretty much impossible to find. I check eBay for it daily.

Acid House Kings are cute. I love the song "This Heart is a Stone". I think it's one of those songs that sound familiar even on the first listen.

'Sing along with...' is probably my favourite indiepop album at the moment, but I think I'm just in love with everything Johan does, on first listen I wasn't taken by 'pop look and listen', will have to investigate 'Advantage', the album cover is awesome, I love Johan's seemily love of gay arian photography! I don't know about new acid house kings stuff, but Johan said the other day on email that he's working on a new Legends record due out next March which excited me no end!

Argh spookily I just opened up my itunes and it started playing acid house kings!

Haha! Me too! Is he the photographer on all the amazing Acid House Kings/Legends/Club 8 records? I was wondering if he was, or was the stylist, or if he just knew how to fucking work it.

I'm loving the cover of Club 8's latest single, "Jesus Walk With Me." HAVE MERCY!

Well, he's not the photographer, but I imagine Johan must have a big say in the imagery of his label. I love The Legends album covers, and have you seen the photos of the latest Labrador signing The Sound of Arrows?

I wouldn't want to over egg it, but I think "Sing along with ..." is one of the best pop albums ever. It's catchy, it's clever, it's well played, has no filler, it sounds great and your mother would like it.

PS. and the bonus tracks on the LP are very good too.

My oh my, that is a cotton candy, homoerotic delight, isn't it? The style of those covers is just divine.

I've never liked The Legends anywhere near as much as AHK. And I prefer Club 8 to them as well. Being crap at talking about music, I can't expound on that statement.

I'm not trying to argue with your taste, but did you try more than one The Legends album? They're really quite different from each other. I like the more rock & roll sound of the first, but if you like Club 8 and AHK you might prefer the later albums.
