B&S - I Could Be Dreaming (the bit in the PY! song always reminded me of Isobel's interlude in this song)
The Long Blondes - You Could Have Both (even though it's really a duet)
you're just too obscure for me

Ladytron - Paco!

Shakespears Sister - I Don't Care (damn, Siobhan has a sexy voice, which fits the rest of her rather well!)

Good one!

You could also have their 'Child Psychology'

Linda is talking in the background of 'Deanshanger', by Prolapse.

Like everyone else I think there should be loads but I can only of two - Bobby Gillespie Is A Virgin by Velodrome 2000 and a song by Cinerama that I can't remember what it's called but I think it's on Va Va Voom. I'd have a listen but that would mean turning Thomas The Tank Engine off which would make Ralph quite unhappy!

Fuck! I can't believe I didn't mention Prolapse's 'Tina, This Is Matthew Stone'.

Best song ever and that.

Monkey Swallows the Universe's version of Ice Cream Man has a bit in the middle with Nat (and Kev) talking in French, on some versions about 'jus de bite' - Dirty girl!

There's a song from Mazzy Star's album 'Among my Swan' that I'm thinking of right now which is spoken, rather than sang. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the song though, and my CD of that album is about 20 miles away.

Is it 'Maniac'?

The whole of 'Fondette' by Blueboy is girl-talking loveliness.

there's a track off the first pastels album that has a girl talking - very much in the vein that was adopted for b&s for the songs mentioned so far. i can't remember the name - i'll dig out the album and let you know.

'up for a bit' has some voices on it, sort of in the mix, particularly on the fade out... but rather than a girl it sounds like stephen... do you mean in amongst the maelstrom of sound that is 'baby honey', there's that american sounding girl that says 'it's really groovy' toward the end?

you've really got me trying to figger out which song you mean, ian, I sort of know what you mean but I was listening to 'up for a bit with...' this morning and I carn't identify it

I'm not sure it's entirely considered "talking" but some sing/talking ("sinking"??) is going on in Cinerama's "Love". "I love your stubble...etc."

"Attention Stockholm" by 80's swedish icon Virna Lindt must be the girl-spoken pop song par excellence ! Still after 27 years, it is as haunting as ever and it remains unbeatable to my heart !

'Tanya Loves R n B' by Gwenno Pipette is amazing. She talks you through some dance moves.
And by me, I mean, Flexo.
