a layer of chips fanzine

Post by a layer of chips » Mon Nov 19, 2007 15:13

Hello. I've got the taste for doing a printed fanzine again. So I'm going to do one.

If anyone would like to send in submissions they'd be gratefully received. The deadline is 14th December. You can send absolutely anything to me at tastyfanzine@btinternet.com

Also, I think I'm going to give away a cd with the fanzine. If anyone has any spare tracks lying around, please email them to the same address.

I'm a bit stuck for a name for the fanzine, to be honest, but I'll be printing a couple of hundred every two months or so, and they'll be free.

Good luck with that. If I get the urge to write anything I'll send it along.

what about, "and there was a layer of chips underneath!" or "nan's chip bolognese fandango" or "my nan asked me if i liked spaghetti"?
When the people are being beaten with a stick, they are not much happier if it is called 'the People's Stick.'

Cheers, Cara.

Has anyone heard my spaghetti bolognese/chips anecdote? It's a winner.

Well... and I'd sit down if I were you... I found a layer of chips under my spaghetti bolognese!

How does your dog smell? Jamaica.

sam - are you thinking of doing it themed, or LITERALLY [sic] having "anything" in there? or are you waiting to see what you get?
i'd love to contribute... but then, i keep telling myself i'll start writing again, and then not getting around to it.

i would offer to help in any other way, but with a printed one it might be a little difficult...

although: are you LITERALLY (sorry, i keep getting to this word now) laying it out with glue and scissors, or will it be an electronic thing you print out. because, if the latter, wouldn't it be a nice idea if some of us, in separate locations, could get the file when it's done... and print our own copies to distribute in the places we live? if that's not what you have in mind, or won't work, nevermind

I wasn't going to do the electronic thing, no. Purely because I struggle with the operation of a kettle. But I certainly don't mind sending you a copy if you can send me the postage via paypal or something.

Also - please do send anything you'd like included over.

that's excellent - i mean, i'm about to work in a bookshop where i'm stocking (and hopefully selling!) indiepop: it'd be lovely to get a copy, make some more, and just have few lying around in the shop for people to take.

also - it'll be a good incentive to write something again. fiction okay, i suppose?

Fiction would be fine.

Can I expect a Mills & Boon-esque masterpiece?

I can't write (it all comes out as a terrifying stream of binary) but I'll try to dig out a track for the CD. In fact, I might record a cover for you as I've forgotten how to write songs. Any requests?

This is now ready. There's interviews with The Deirdres and Plans and Apologies, number one in the 'Best Ever Coronation Street moments, a Filano focus and some politics.

It's called 'A Layer of Chips' and comes with a free cd with tracks from The Deirdres, Gloombuttons, Mascot Fight, Pete Green and Tom from Lardpony. But this is limited to the first twenty copies, cos I can't be arsed to burn any more than that.

I'm going to be taking some along to the DSFAR Christmas gig tomorrow night, but if you're not going to that and would like one, you can PM me with your address and I'll pop one in the post.

Thank you for my copy Sam. It turned up in super quick time.

I should really do a Birmingham paper fanzine like this. Birmingham has too many blogs and not enough fanzines.
And by me, I mean, Flexo.

No worries. I'll try and get the cd to you if there's any left.

Davo! Yours is on its way when I get back to work and can nick some stamps.

If anyone would like to write anything for the next issue please do. It'll be out at the beginning of February.
