Folks

This is my first post so i'm going to be cheeky and ask you what you think of my band.

We're called Mr Dog

This is our myspace page. http://www.myspace.com/mrdogmusic

There's only 4 songs on at the minute. People seem to live Coconut Tree the best.

Some opinions would be bonus! See whatcha think.

Peace

"The Cleveland Hills" was my favourite (although that was possibly influenced by having heard my dad sing "The Purple Hills of Cleveland" about 100 times in various north east working mens' clubs!).

I'd like to hear the songs played by a full band, but that's probably just me :-)

Best of luck,

Phil

I've finally finished my new album. Here, look at the terrifying front cover, then download it for free why not?

ok, this is one of the tracks off the forthcoming 255s/Unwelcome Guests split 7"! We're pretty excited about the single, and really pleased with the recording. that's me playing guitars and singing back-up, should anyone be interested.

WARNING: contains indie rock

I wrote a song about Gazza. It is my favourite song that I have done in quite a long time! Here it is:

the band i play in is more of an indie 'rock' slant than an indiepop one, but my first foray into singing with them is now up here, if anyone wants a listen

and if no-one does/is arsed, then that's fine :)

http://the255s.bandcamp.com/track/acting-class

FFO Superchunk, Weakerthans, Archers Of Loaf... nowhere near as good as those bands obviously, but that's what we're sorta 'in the vein of', i suppose

I felt obligated to listen to a bunch of songs already posted before I shamelessly added my own, but I'm so glad that I did! There's a lot of talented people and a lot of really good songs posted on this thread. I hope people think the same of these.

Check out our band Arsenic! here:

Remember, Arsenic! is the indiest thing since "Tigermilk"

I'd feel a bit dodgy starting an August Actually thread when we've only been active for two months, but today we finished recording our first EP and I'm absolutely chuffed with it... SO CHUFFED, in fact, that I've decided to share my favourite song with the world, for free.

I Can't Promise You Forever!

This track is (you might remember from my FAWM demo) about my dog, Jake, who died in February. The rest of the band have really fleshed out my shitty little demo and turned it into a thing of beauty (if I do say so myself). Stephen wrote an elegant violin vs trumpet part for the "bridge", which is played beautifully by Sai and Jack... Laura's improvisation on the piano is ten steps ahead of my "playing chords and that"... Damian's echoing of the chorus never fails to make me smile... And, finally, our guest drummer (and recording engineer) Richard Collins created a brilliant beat ON THE SPOT which compliments the rest of the track perfectly.

Sorry if this all sounds like I'm bigging up my own song, but the way I see it is it's become OUR song and I can't help but feel the delight of a father when I listen to it.

Enjoy!

I have to agree. I checked out and really enjoyed Arsenic!, The Red Poppies, and New Socks. I get the feeling that this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Big it up all you want, please! This and all else of yours was fab at the Red House last night - very enjoyable stuff indeed. Shades of Butcher Boy's John Hunt and Tindersticks' Stuart Staples in yr vocal style, I thought. Fair?
