God, imagine how much the 'deposit' would be there.

There's kind of a sense of inevitability over this, partly because everyone knew from the off that it was a six month lease then it becomes affordable student housing, but also there's not that widespread a feeling that The Charlotte in its current state (forthcoming attractions: The Jam DMC, The Paddingtons) is really keeping the torch alive for the storied venue. And, obviously, all the old moans about nobody going to gigs in the city.

Craig! I saw your friend's band's first gig a couple of weeks ago. They've heard of Gindrinker, I'm assuming.

Alex and David? LHOOQ? How was it?

Leicester needs some pubs with quirky landlords who don't charge for basements/upstairs room hire and are happy to get people in through the door. And there's not many of those in many places.

Does anyone know if there is anywhere close to Junction 21 of the M1 that would make do for drinking a coffee and making an exchange of secret items with a stranger? Is there anywhere along that bit of the A5460 before the ringroad?

Fosse Park shopping park of doom would be your best bet. There's a Mark's and Spencers with a cafe, and just along from there I believe there's a whole blooming food court. It's off the big roundabout near the motorway junction - about a minute's drive

Perfect! Thanks so much!

Lovely to see you at the weekend, Paul, as always. Hope we can come down to Leicester soon.

Might as well let it be known over here ahead of the proper announcement and thread thereof - myself and two other local promoters are putting on a heavily indiepop slanted alldayer at Firebug on Easter Sunday. (No, I'm not sure starting to book an alldayer with less than six weeks' notice is ideal either, but there you go)

I know this is a long shot, but I'm in Leicester on the night of Monday 29th. Is anything going on?

Pablo - fancy a pint? You get to meet Dan. We're sharing a twin room in St George's Tower.

I love this job.

I knew you and Dan were texting each other, but this is an outrage.

If you'd come a day earlier you could have come to my next gig. As far as I can tell, there is literally nothing going on that night. No gigs, no special occasions, no nothing.

Come out for a pint, Simon. You can spend your gig profits on me.

Hey, now. You'll be fine.

I'm thinking Criterion, anyway.

Maybe. I'll see if they've got the pizzas on and if Glyn's not putting on another extreme hardcore night in the function room.

Is St George's structurally safe at the moment, btw? And how far is it to Phoenix Square from there? About five minutes, isn't it? Walk-wise?

From St George's? Should be, everything they currently want to be operational is operational? It's not very far away, discounting the two or three minutes trying to find the entrance.

We were in the Black Boy last night. Nice little pub. The landlord was heroically pissed.

I had a great time. I had a burger on my way home, even though I'd already had my tea.

That's the sort of night it was
