Yip, it's a Christmas gig being put on by Kid Canaveral. Slow Club and Eagleowl playing too I believe. I'll be there!

There's a wee club thing happening at ECA this coming Friday - I think that Ste McCabe has set it up - this is its second club night..

They have a few bands playing. One of the bands is Help Stamp Out Loneliness.

The others are Seafield Foxes and Noisy Pig.

Here's the event:

Does anyone know what is happening to Avalanche? They have messed me about on an order something chronic and I fear they have gone/about to go bust or something.

Whilst I am not exactly uber-up to speed with these sorts of things, I haven't heard anything about them being in danger of going bust.

I'd quite happily follow up on your order in person, if you like, next time I'm near their shop. It might be the weekend after this coming one. If it's not sorted out by then, then give us a shout.

Well, this is going in in Auld Reekie later tonight:

I suspect that this is the first of its type in this city?

The Pastels are due to play a wee set as part of Neu Reekie later this month. 30 Nov, I think - and possibly at Summerhall.

Will do.

In other news, The last remaining Avalanche Record shop is apparently scheduled to close on 6 January. I think their online service might continue though.

Well, this is on this coming Friday :D

In addition to the Pastels, there is a band called Teencanteen - an all-girl band:

They've collaborated with Eugene Kelly, Duglas Stewart - Eugene is advertised as appearing with them on Friday too.

I take it you are going along? We've got the kids this weekend but I might be able to secure a pass for the evening ;)

Will be going along. Been curious about Neu Reekie for a little while, been meaning to go - and the lineup here is a good opportunity to do just that.

Maybe see you there?

Shame you couldn't make it to the Jens Lekman gig btw.

Yeah, I was sad to miss it. We ended up on parent duties and I've been a bit ill again lately so I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it. Will see how I'm feeling Friday and might head out for a few hours at least. The stuff they put on really does look good, so even if I can't make Friday I must make sure I get along to something soon.

Bah! This would have been very, very tempting were I not feeling utterly rubbish again today.

Oh no :( you're still not feeling well? Sounds wise to rest - esp with it now feeling officially like Winter!

I should mention that the Lovely Eggs gig was last night (my post was made yesterday). Apart from Adam (Spook School) there weren't any familiar faces there - yet still a very good turnout - the best (and most enthusiastic) audience that I've seen for them compared to any of their gigs in Edinburgh or Glasgow in recent years.

Aw, glad it was good! Also, I'm quite glad it was last night because now I don't feel torn about whether to force myself to go out, heh.

Still generally unwell, for reasons documented elsewhere. It's been a bit up and down, but yes, rest is definitely in order.
