So, I'm supposed to be playing a gig with my group Fuzzy Lights at the Roxy Art House on Nov 5th, but it closed down yesterday. Any suggestions for help? We're having terrible luck, the promoters for our Birmingham gig called it a day last week.

That is a shame about the Roxy - it is a nice little venue.

Have you tried downstairs at Lebowski's on Morrison Street? That might be a good option - it's the closest-sized venue that immediately springs to mind.

Also, Pilrig St Paul's Church on Leith Walk might be a decent bet. Friends of mine (who are in a band) asked me about venues in Edinburgh recently - I suggested that one, and they have now booked it.

There are also the recent Popfest venues - the Lot in the Grassmarket, the GRV on Guthrie Street and Edinburgh Art College - all perhaps worth a look? One or two of them might be a little big/ expensive.

Otherwise, there is Cabaret Voltaire on Blair Street, Sneaky Pete's at the Cowgate.

If any of the folk in Ballboy, Withered Hand, Unpop check out this thread then they might be better placed to advise.

Thanks, that's a great start. The gig was booked by the in-house promoter at the Roxy, so I don't know whether they will stick on with promoting it elsewhere, so any clues as to people who might put something on would also be highly appreciated.

Heard about this. Were you staying with the Drs. Tanner? I think we would have missed it for mad flat-moving packing, anyway, but would have been nice to go out to the pub, anyway...

I'm planning on going to Edinburgh in mid-February. What good indiepop nights are there?

Hi Rob! Edinburgh is lovely, hope you enjoy living there. Probably feels a bit quiet gig-wise after living in Manchester, but there are usually a lot of wee things going on most of the time and you just have to keep your eyes peeled. Look out for Tracer Trails and The Gentle Invasion gigs, they're always good. I've recently moved to Glasgow but will be back in town for Unpop on the 11th February. Put the date in your diary and we'll see you there!

Ooh, we might have a London contingent in town of ex-Dimestore Disco DJs...

And I do need to get out more.

Long shot I know, but i don't suppose anyone might have a room going in a shared house/flat for a nice anorak like myself? My landlady has given my flatmate and I notice to quit as she wants to move back in so I have to move out by mid April.

I know I havent posted much on here but I'm 28, male, house trained, have a grown up job etc... If anyone has any leads please pipe up?! :) it would be great to live somewhere with like minded people!

Lovely Eggs & Kid Canaveral. That's a great gig right there. Could be tempted to make an Edinburgh trip for that.

Just a little reminder of this, as I have since spoken to a few folk who were keen to go to this.

According to the Voodoo Rooms website, it is from 8pm onwards..

Anyone aware of anything good to go and see in Edinburgh this weekend? Bands/clubs/ etc - I'm up for a long weekend and it's always nice to see and do something a bit different!

Only recently found out about this from some of the lovely Ace Bushy Striptease folk - so thought I'd give it a mention:

The Starlets
Falling And Laughing
Ace Bushy Striptease
Flea Monkey

Friday 28th October
7pm-3am
Henry's Cellar Bar
£5

DJs till 3am

Hopefully a few Edinburgh/ Glasgow folk and others nearby (or even further afield(!)) will come along to this?

In addition to tonight's gig at Henry's Cellar Bar, we have those Lovely Eggs back in town on Monday, with Hearts!attack. They are playing at the ECA, I think..

Also read something about a gig in Edinburgh on maybe 18 December? Kid Canavaral, Standard Fare, Josie Long (I think!).
