Hello Matt! I recognise that avatar! We're friends on last fm already and everything :)

Does anyone else know of any good Birmingham gigs coming up in August/September? Slow Club are playing late September at the Rainbow and there's the usual Robot vs Dinosaurs but that's all I've got in my diary.
And by me, I mean, Flexo.

Hi Matt,

Were you at the camp site bar thingy with us on sunday night?

And, in other Birmingham news, the Electric cinema are doing a Cowboy party type thingy and showing A Fistful Of Dollars on 15th Aug, complete with wild west dressing up. It looks fun - anyone fancy it? (although everybody who works at the Electric now seems to be incredibly mardy which puts me off a bit).

Also, it seems the Hippodrome is showing MARY POPPINS, which should be done really. Is anyone up for it?

See, I actually got excited by this...not enough to actually pay to see it or anything though.

Step in time, step in time.

Rose McDowell, formerly of Strawberry Switchblade, has a gig, supported by Gemma Quarterman, in September

i'm a bit late on this but appears club nme has failed in brum again:

what is actually happening with the place i love in general? there appears to be not a lot going on there and it still looks like a photography lab rather than a music venue.

Ooh, I'll have a read of that when I get onto myspace.

I've not heard much at TPIL which is a shame as it's the midsize venue that Birmingham Centre's been crying out for. Lovely outside bit too.

Also - This is Tomorrow are putting on a pop line up! 3rd of September w/ Das Wanderlust, Ace Bushy Striptease, The Bumblebees and Lime Chalks. I'm taking down the Autumn Store record bag to DJ a bit too!

Das is a Wandermust! (see what I did there). Why are all the good things at my busiest time of year though? :(

aw man! i couldn;t find the most appropriate place to post this so the Brums will have to put up with it..

it just nearly kicked off in the library! some kid versus an old lady! it was SOOO CLOSE. This ,mixed race kid thought the woman was calling him foreign but she just meant like "are you local?" not "bleedin foriegners!" and he was all "I am english you know!" and she was all "i just meant 'are you from ambleside?" and it all went a bit strange.

it was a beautiful moment though. dude managed to kick off at what could be the only non-racist over 70 year old in the north.

hello people

If anyone fancies the fistful of dollars thing at the electric on friday, please say YES! Otherwise, if anyone fancies a pint this week, let me know... this is the last week before I start back at work - may as well enjoy it.

Dunc, Peter - hope you got back from Nottingham OK. Dear me, all that alcohol. And trying to pull boys from bands - never a good idea, especially when one is shitfaced. Oh well..

This should be so fun! My parents are coming up for it also, I told my Mum she didn't have to come and see us until we got a Belle & Sebastian support slot but she seemed quite keen when I told her how pop LC and Das Wanderlust are. Do you know anything about The Bumblebees? They have a pretty ungoogleable name so yeah.

Yeah, they're a group of young pop enthusiasts from Bristol who have played at Spiral Scratch and stuff. I think one is a poster on this very board!

All in all it's a pretty pop day out for the family.

3rd September, at the Sound Bar - not sure where that is.

I used to love Strawberry Switchblade. Don't know any of Rose's solo stuff but I'm up for this if anyone else is.
