I did. I was thinking of transferring him anyway as Hull don't have a game next week, same as Fulham, Stoke and Someone else. I've been offloading their players over the past fortnight with this in mind as I had a team chock full of them!

Yeah, it's been a bit tricky. Thanks to some bumper weeks like Rooney's hat-trick last week and the decent form of teams like Stoke and Burnley I've done OK this season.

Dickhead moment of the season have been not having faith in Sorenson twice and he saved a penalty both times.
Fuck your tea room.

I was gutted on Saturday when he saved a penno from my captain (Fabregas) and I had him down as a sub. Thankfully my other keeper, Given, saved one on Sunday so it wasn't all bad.

I sold Fabregas this week, thinking I could bring him back in in a week or two when he's back playing. I realised last night that because I bought him at the start of the season and his value's gone up so much, I now can't afford to get him back because the fucking stupid sell-on fee has been deducted when I sold him. So I got 11.3 million or something when I sold him but he costs 11.7 million to get back. Now I need to sell another player for someone cheaper in order to afford to get Fabregas back.

I hate that sell-on fee bollocks. It punishes you for having the foresight/luck to pick a player at a good price who is likely to go up in value.

How does that work, exactly? I never have figured it out (and I got shot of Fabregas this week as well).

This is from the rules:
If you sell a player for a higher price than you paid, then a sell-on fee of 50% (rounded up to the nearest 0.1 million) will be applied on the profits. For example, if you buy a player for 4.2 million and when you transfer him his value is 4.5 million then you will only receive 4.3 million.
I think it's shit, and it doesn't work both ways - if a player's value goes below what you paid for him, you have to absorb the full loss when you sell him.

I've also just noticed this:
After the season starts player values may change by 0.1 a day based on activity in the transfer market. Both the formula used to calculate this change and the time of the change include variable factors and won't be revealed to game players.
Am I imagining it, or was this less opaque last season? I thought there was something in the rules last year along the lines of the player's value going up by 0.1 million for each 10% increase in the number of people who own him, or something like that.

Well done to Nathan 80sfan - he got the 88th highest score out of anyone this week (i.e. out of 2.2 million players).

it's on the back of this that i'm submitting my application for the next burnley manager. and that i once sold ian (thomas) moore for £20milllion on football manager. i'm a shoe-in.

Heh - I got the Tevez dividend as well, but just from an emergency captain substitution cos Fat Frank wasn't playing.

Oooh, it's suddenly tight at the top in the Anorak league, isn't it?

That would be me. Sorry. Bloody forum part-timers, eh?

MInd, you overtook me for a while a couple of weeks back so it shows how quickly things can change in this fantasy football malarkey.

Finally the mysterious John Lewis appears! If only you knew the hours I'd spent cursing your very existence. Nothing personal, like.

With a team name including the word anonymous I was wondering if we'd ever find out who you are.

It's gonna hot up in the Fantasy League soon isn't it? Lots of weeks with teams playing twice or even none at all. Only those Fantasy League savvy players will survive.

Incidentally, I'm not sure I'm in the Anorak league. I thought I was but I may not have joined it. I'll check when I get home. If I'm not can I join in and carry my current points tally in?

I'm not sure but I think you have to start from zero if you join a league during the season.

My team's been on the slide for a good few weeks now. I'm looking for divine intervention of some kind.

Yeah, you can carry your ponits in. Had someone join our work league late and they're now beating me to first place. Swines.

How many points are you on at the moment, Wheatabeat? This may have to go to committee. If it's more than me you're not allowed in.

Oh, I'm already in it, at a reasonable 8th place. It must be some other league I'm getting befuddled about.
