Fantasy Football League

Post by Richard » Fri Jul 11, 2008 21:21

Obligatory fantasy football league here. We're all winners at the end of it, aren't we? I'm always terrible at these.

Hooray, I'll have a go at that, and maintain interest for at least the first 3 weeks of the season.

Me too.

I'll have me team together anyway because we do this in work, every year we put in €20 and the winner takes the lot. I won it one year... the year no-one remembered to collect the money, of course.

No point picking your side til it kicks off though. Or before you know it your entire squad will be lining out for West Ham. And you don't want that.

Oh, I'm in as well. I forgot to say.

I've not done a fantasy league thing for about three years so I'm dead keen now and I've entered about three already.

I think we should have a Scottish league too, you racists. Although I probably know more about English players so I might just join this one.

Excellent, I set up a provisional team a couple of weeks ago (to be totally revised post-transfer mayhem, of course) so I will join in too. I absolutely love fantasy football.

He scored 7 goals in one game last year with SC Heerenveen against Heracles Almelo. I doubt he'll manage the same in the Premier League though.

He scored 4 against Man City at the end of last season though didn't he? He looked like he needed to sharpen up a bit when he first went to Boro but started to look pretty good as the season went on, so I reckon that's a wise pick.

2 against Manchester United in a fierce snowstorm isn't a bad return either.

i'd have to be loyal and select West Brom players, but we seem to be selling all the best ones in real life and replacing them with nondescript midfielders from Livingston and the like.

Hey, ho...so looking forward to the season. Still Zoltan Gera seemed to think Fulham are a better prospect so it'll be good to see his face when they go down at last.

West Midland Village-
1: Van der Sar (Man United)
2: Samba (Blackburn)
3: Baines (Everton)
4: Woodgate (Spurs)
5: Campbell (Portsmouth)
6: Ronaldo (C) (Man United)
7: Pienaar (Everton)
8: Butt (Newcastle)
9: Gamst Pedersen (Blackburn)
10: Tevez (Man United)
11: Defoe (Portsmouth)
12: Jaaskelainen (Bolton)
13: Neville (Everton)
14: Mascherano (Liverpool)
15: Kanu (Portsmouth)

Mascherano was cheaper than I would've thought, Ronaldo was ludicrously expensive but surely worth it, Tevez, Defoe and Kanu will surely be getting a fair amount of points for me.

I'm in. I wish Adebayor would make up his mind and commit to Arsenal. Then I could have an attacking line up of Adebayor, Agbonlahor and Aliadiere - polysyllabic, alliterative and deadly!
