Of the multitude of things that annoy me about (people on) buses, the one that particularly bugged me this morning was people who desperately hold out their whole arm to hail the bus, right up to the point where the bus has stopped (ie. well after the driver's flicked the indicator on). It just makes them look absolutely mental.

Yes. I prefer to offer a slight nod in the general direction of the approaching vehicle then look disdainfully away as it stops.

Noooo what he wanted to do was nail me down to the tarmac and reverse over me a few times. I hear there's a substantial waiting list for this.

A driver on a First bus in Sheffield called my friend a fucking bitch. When she phoned First to complain, and they asked her what the driver had said, she told them, and then they told her off for swearing.

I really wish I was making this up.

Shouldn't the name of this thread be seasonally changed to "It's bobbins by bus when it's hot and sunny and everybody on it is sweaty and then you rapidly drown in your own sweat too so get off and walk as it's much better"?
The horses just don't gossip anymore

There's a bus stop near my house that only 50% of drivers seem to know exists. Unfortunately, this is the stop I get off at.

This afternoon on my way home, I pressed the bell and walked to the front of the bus. The driver sped right past it. I told him he had missed my stop and said he didn't know anyone wanted to get off. I replied that I had pressed the bell and stood, and enquired if he needed it in writing.

The driver stopped at the next stop and told me to get off the bus. I told him that I may as well get off at the next one now (the bus does a little loop near my house). He told me I had pressed the button so had to disembark. I laughed, and when I saw he wasn't joking said there was no need to be arsey about it. He told me to "get the fuck off my bus". I called him a wanker and did so. As I was getting off he said something about me being a "fat sarcastic c***". I got back on and asked him to repeat what he had just said. He was suddenly less vocal.

I hate bus drivers

The bus I was in yesterday back from work crashed into another bus. Nothing serious, damage-wise, but it was bloody hot in that bus and it took forever before everything was settled. Can't my buses crash on a Tuesday morning or so? Stop crashing my bus on a Friday night!

Waiting at the bus stop today and this couple were merrily snogging away under the same shelter. Ithought "Aw they seem to really love each other" (usually I snarl at grotesque displays of public affection but I was in a good mood this morn). Then as the bus came the guy shook the front of his shirt and said "Hey!" I thought his girl had just slagged off his celtic top or otherwise commented on his appearence, which was a bit of a mess. I got on first and sat down just as the girl was getting on alone. Her chap shouted after her "Oi! You left me with a hard on!" You could hear a pin drop on the bus. The girl had to walk up the aisle trying to hide a self-satisfied smirk. I thought good on ye girl but get that jakey bam tae fuck.

Dutch bus drivers are on strike for the third week now. It's getting a bit annoying. Luckily I usually take my bike to the station.

Is it really that bad? It's obviously getting some attention in the Dutch press, but not too much and I kind of assumed only some drivers in Frysland and Groningen were on strike. Well, if you're striking to get attention, you shouldn't really do it during a major football tournament, should you?

It only affected me when I was in Zwolle a couple of days ago. But yes, it's all regional buses (Connexxion et cetera) and some city buses, but luckily Amsterdam's GVB is not participating.

I'm happy that I don't need the bus. If trains are going on strike I'm in trouble.

Red buses on the Arnold route!

Post by yyeeeesssssssssss » Sun Jun 29, 2008 4:44 pm

I was just wondering if anyone else from Notingham loves the London buses weve got now on the Arnold route. Its great how they have an open back and theres a conductor on the bus (although i wish they had uniforms.....oh yeah and hats, they should haves hats as well!) Why did they choose Arnold, do you think its because Arnolds close to town and people arent on the bus long so wont get cold (because of the open back)?

Scuse me, yyyyyessssss, but couldn't you have posted this in the buses thread or the Nottingham thread? And your pictures of Meadow Lane post in the football thread?

I'm not having a massive go or owt - it's just the way Anorak works.
