she loves a media iconoclast does huq, first bacon now brooker (was there a secret tryst with brandreth inetween?), I bet richard stilgoe's wife must be worried... although if konnie's going through the alphabet then she's got a way to go yet

tha charlie brooker, you know him, what's the first thing that comes into your mind when you think of him? you know, if you were explaining who he was to your mum, perhaps? you'd say, "charlie brooker, mum, you know him, he's that... college dropout"

ah, the penny drops, him

"Jesus, what university should I go to?"

"Well son, I'd recommend the poly."

Who is that lady? Is she off the telly? She's lovely, Brooker's a lucky lad.

She used to be a Blue Peter presenter. Not sure what she does now. I admit she looks ok, but she's extremely irritating. Her voice is so whiny. It seems like an odd pairing.
Just be nice to me.

I remember Joe Mace (remember him?) telling me that Konnie was seeing Richard Bacon. I was traumatised at the time but got over it eventually.

Nowadays it's all about her sister Rupa. I met her a few weeks ago at work. I was so embarrassed I spelt her name wrong

She seemed to regress as she went on in that job, so she was barely forming sentences by the end. She's just got the Xtra Factor job after essentially slouching around Sky One filler for a couple of years and doing a magnificently awkward FHM shoot.

Pop Fact: she was the editor's assistant at Q magazine for a bit before getting the Blue Peter call.

I just read that. Holy crap. It's our generation's Royal Wedding.

Time to find the episode of Newswipe with the Olympic Torch ceremony on...

(there isn't one)

There is an episode of screenwipe, though, where Konnie gets people to pee on a hill. Which is fairly brilliant. And really must be where this all started.

Before that there was an episode that involved Brooker miming a sex-act over an image of Ms Huq. That was where it started.

Imagine if that worked in all cases !
Actually might explain a few pairings.

Oh, by the way, did people see that TV Go Home is back in print? I got it for Christmas, and it is fun.

I didn't get to watch on the night and was hoping to see it on 4 On Demand but it doesn't seem to be there. I was really looking forward to it but maybe it's for the best that I missed it...

When I originally bought it 7 years ago (or however long it is) I didn't really imagine it would one day be reprinted with a picture of Charlie on the front as a selling point.
10 o clock live was pretty poor, but I would give it the chance to get better. David and Charlie in particular aren't really used to doing live stuff and it showed. They'd be better letting some of the segments breathe a bit more as well. And maybe actually give Lauren something to do other than terrible fake American news network sketches.
Might still be rubbish of course.

hey, linus! wrote:ten o'clock live

I've given it two weeks but i'm starting to see it as an hour i wont get back... it could work if they dropped the 11 oclock show style skits and shaved it down to 30 mins... perhaps made it a more light hearted question time.

Plus then there's the crowd whooping and booing at the obvious targets like bankers... which makes it more liek Noels HQ than they'd probably like to admit. To be honest Newswipe was faster, smarter and funnier.
