After meaning to get round to watching it for a few years I finally went and bought Freaks & Geeks last night. I'm looking forward to it immensely. Amazon's "people who bought this, also bought..." feature may mean that I also went and spent £12.99 on My So Called Life at the same time.
It's a change of pace after the Wire if nothing else!

YAY! You will NOT regret it. F&G is the best show, I wish I could watch it again for the first time. But I also am happy watching it again and again and again!

I am working my way through the commentary tracks, they are so worth it.

I am getting very tempted by My So-Called Life too! Oh, Angela and Jordan and Rayann... Aw!

I'm definitely up for Zack and Miri Make a Porno. As much as I fear Seth Rogan overexposure, I still just love him. I'm so in awe of the fact that he freaking wrote Undeclared (the oft-neglected Apatow follow-up to Freaks and Geeks) at, like 18, that it would take a lot at this point to disappoint. Of course, I didn't sit through Pineapple Express...yet.

I still need to see my inappropriately-underaged boyfriend Michael Cera in Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist. You seen it yet, Astrid?

No, it's not out here yet! There is apparently awkward sex. How unexpected! Haha! But I totally want to see it.

I am so looking forward to Zach and Miri Make A Porno, apparently it's not too graphic anyway, or so Rogen says.

He is crazy ridiculous talented. I didn't know he wrote Undeclared though!

Pineapple Express, so so so good. Can't wait to see the DVD extras on that one!

I love that in Knocked Up the whole gang o'dudes just have their normal names (Jonah, Jason, Jay, Martin etc.), I bet that made it easier. They were like, on the DVD extras, "Yeah, we're a bunch of best friends who spent our summer playing... best friends"

OH! Also, Seth Rogen writing Superbad WHILE IN HIGH SCHOOL!! It's depressing and awesome at once.

It's cool that he is writing AND starring in The Green Hornet too. Cross-over!

Martin Starr is the hottest thing ever, but only when hideously beardy. I could quite seriously consider stalking the man. mmm.

oh man. HOW good is freaks and geeks? it is so fucking brilliant! mr.stolenwine and i are obsessed with it. sam weir! how awesome is he? i just want to hug him. we watched some of it on the plane and both of us were like, out-of-breath laughing. we've still got a good few episodes to go, but i kind of want to ration it because i don't want it to end! we bought the dvds yesterday (we previously only had it on download) and i'm looking forward to all the extras and stuff. it's totally becoming my 2nd favourite show of all time (after gilmore girls)

Have you seen the one where he wears the disco jumpsuit to school? It's a serious knee slapper.

There's about a zillion piss yerself moments in F&G but all of the snort-laughing ones contain Bill. Martin Starr deserves every award ever given to an actor ever.

Two of my favorites, off the top of my head: 1) Halloween and; 2) the farting cheerleader.

"It wasn't a squeak; it was the sound of cheese being cut."

Whoop! Oh, man, that one about near kills me.

Oh man, Freaks and Geeks really is my favorite T.V. show ever. I can't say I'm a huge fan of Judd Apatow's recent work, but there are still some wonderful parts that remind me of the humor in Freaks and Geeks.

I bought Jean Weir's (Sam Weir's mother) cowgirl Halloween costume off of ebay a few years ago. No use for it! But still a cool thing to have.

It really is an amazing show!

Haha Sandy I am so glad you are getting into it the way I hoped you would, FULL ON. It's one of those shows that makes me cry with laughter, almost cry with kind-of-familiar-feelings at some parts, and hide behind my cringe pillow when it gets too embarrassing. It's so good.

Linda Cardellini says in the commentary at one point that Martin Starr is a bit like Estelle Getty. Which is SO true, isn't it? He just transforms on screen.

we watched the last few episodes on the flight back. SO GOOD. the last few are a bit more emotional and a bit more serious than the rest (well, still humourous but i had tears in my eyes for a few of them). i also felt a bit sad though because there are no more to watch now. at least we still have the dvds though and all the extras and stuff to look forward to (i kind of want to re-watch them all again on dvd). but yeah, this is definitely one of my most favourite shows ever. it's one of those shows you can put on when you're feeling kind of crap and it'll totally cheer you up.

Yes, so true! It's also has that favourite quality of mine where you can watch any episode of a show and it's fantastic and will make you happy.

I can definitely recommend the commentary tracks, they're really great and funny!

Hello I'm new here.

Still not got Freaks & Geeks but have most of anything else Apatow related. He seems to be able to do no wrong.

Even Stepbrothers.

Obviously I love Superbad. I think I've watched that film about 15 times this year. It's my favourite film to watch when drunk. I've been drunk more than 15 times though.

I feared from the opening 15 minutes that Pineapple Express was going to be the stoner version of Sideways (ie- Dull) but after that it seemed to turn into a kind of American Hot Fuzz. In tone anyway. Craig Robinson is outstanding in it as is Danny McBride who appears to be doing a Will Ferrell impression the entire way through the film.

Zack & Miri (not Apatow but Smith so almost as good) didn't do it for me. It was too long & got boring after they did it. Craig Robinson again though...aces.
You're just too / Too obscure for me

me and decky totally want our future kid to turn out like sam. he's so adorable!

and on a jason segel note...there are lots of gratuitious shots of his er...privates in 'forgetting sarah marshall'. i think he likes being naked. remember that episode of freaks and geeks when he stays over at lynsey's and gets naked?

i have a crush on all the "freaks". i think seth rogen is my fave, but after seeing 'forgetting sarah marshall' my vote is swaying towards jason segel. it's such a great movie and he's SO damn good in it. and he wrote it too! amazing!

jason segel is also naked, bar, er, a hand cupping his bits, in knocked up! totally naked. it makes me laugh though, and the getting dumped while naked thing happened to him in real life as well!

ALSO from his real life: the vampire puppet musical! he had written it himself in his 20s and been all excited about it, haha, and then he got the jim henson people to get involved with it in the film and it was like his dream come true. Bless.

Although multiple sources have seen him and Drew Barrymore out and about singing karaoke and makin' out. I'm not so keen on that.

In a James Franco interview I read yesterday, he said he loved Seth Rogen's way of working and picking films, which is he'd only pick films that he himself would go and pay for in the cinema if he wasn't in it.
