Re: Hi-Fi Hardware - Turntables, Valves & Tapes

sorry to hijack this thread a little bit... but I'm in need of some turntable advice. I've got a pro-ject rpm (or genie 2, they seem confused about what its actually called)... this one- http://www.hifibitz.co.uk/product.asp?id=6551 And its never really worked very well... basically the left channel...

Re: The Football

5 minutes was totally crazy, Liverpool got 4 minutes out of nothing on Saturday though. Nani was down for a minute or so, and the 30 seconds per sub rule is excessive, but yeah, there's no way it adds up to five minutes. And is insulting everything united-related really necessary? I know they're not...

Re: The Football

I'm normally quite suspicious of any event that involves a sentence along the lines of "the stuff of dreams", but it most definitely applies to Macheda's goal today for United. 17 year old, on his debut, at an utterly crucial moment both in the match and the season overall, and a totally perfect fin...

Re: Keyboards and Mice

I liked the puck mouse that came with my 'bondi' G3 iMac, just because the design was so totally needless, as if a perfectly round one button mouse was what everyone needed. I liked the clear apple mouse as far as aesthetics go, but I never had one... What would you suggest as a decent mouse? Some k...

Re: The horses

My dad fancies Darkness in the national, but I don't know. My sister won a couple of quid (or Rand, since we were in Cape Town), on comply or die last year, but apparently it's not such a good bet right now. I'm going to do my usual thing and bet a tenner on a fairly likely winner with good odds and...

Re: The Football

can anyone explain to me why the netherlands have constantly produced world class players for so many years now?
the country must have less than half the population of england (but presumably more than scotland), but always seem to be far better.

Re: Keyboards and Mice

what are the keyboards that currently ship with macs? i quite like mine, once i got used to the unusual key spacing. the mouse is horrible though, the side buttons are basically unusable because i press them by mistake almost every time i move it and the ball thing for scrolling is pretty good, but ...

Re: Guitars

ah yes, that looks like the one... it looks like shit in a way, but i kind of like that. it might not be your kind of guitar, but if you can get hold of a GRB 'kokocaster' for a decent price it would be well worth it. i got one a few months ago and it's incredible, its a surfcaster copy, comes in so...

Re: Guitars

Does anyone know what guitar the Vivian Girls guitarist is using in this video?

I'm pretty sure it's a Squire, but I don't know what model, I think I've seen them on sale before, they look pretty cool.

I'm quite a fan of the new Squire duo-sonic too.

Re: The Mac Thread

thanks a lot, i may not actually be doing it, a lot of it depends on the future of my brothers pc, if that's truly broken i'll salvage most of those parts and put something together, so long as i can get a working cpu out of it i'll give it a shot.

Re: Nnngh, this...COMPUTER! Heeelp!

my brother had the idea of holding a wire between the two pins on the motherboard that the switch connects to, if that worked then it would surely be the switch or cable... but it didn't work. so basically by some massive coincidence both power supplies must have failed on us... it seems very unlike...

Re: The Mac Thread

i'm almost certain that i've seen someone mention that they're running osx on a pc on here... my brothers pc is broken, but i think the cpu and motherboard are okay, so i'm thinking of taking them off his hands on the cheap and building a relatively cheap mac clone to keep at home to save dragging t...

Re: Nnngh, this...COMPUTER! Heeelp!

I'm no help I'm afraid, but I do have a problem of my own... So I'm trying to fix my brothers pc, it broke about the time that he switched to using a mac and its been lying in my dad's house for about a year. Basically, it won't power up at all, if the power button is pressed it just doesn't respond...

Re: The Football

The worst result since QPR won by the same scoreline in 1992, so a long time ago, either way and Liverpool's biggest win at Old Trafford ever, I think. I'm going to be arrogant and hope that it will all be quite ironic when it comes in our most successful season ever. Though I don't think we'll reta...

Re: The Mac Thread

yeah, its really just the audio for me, but that's the single most important thing for me, so i'm not letting it die... i guess it is about 18 months, i actually suspected the mini was on the verge of being dropped, maybe it was because i only had a paper round when it was originally launched, but r...

Re: A thread about pedals

like most things i talk about buying i didn't get anything in the end... i think it would've been much more of a novelty thing anyway. as for that zoom pedal, i'm not a massive fan of them, though i've never used that one in particular i've had a couple of older zoom multi effects a few years back a...

Re: The Mac Thread

the new mac minis look very good, i thought there might be a different casing for this new version considering its had the same design for over 4 years now, though they still look great. I wonder if the CPU is replaceable like on the old ones, and what kind of heat it can tolerate, I'd love to put a...

Re: The Football

Do raised expectations lead to discontent when the side then under-achieves? I dunno. Old Trafford looked 80% empty by the 88th minute yesterday, so I guess that kind of answers the question... the same could be said about the way Villa fans seem to be acting since their form has dipped over these ...
