Re: video gammmmmmesss

anyone else worryingly addicted to the new GTA game yet? i've financially crippled myself by buying a 360 to play it on, but it's worth it. still not as good as mario galaxy though (just to compare recent games, not that the two are at all comparable) but at least it's got me away from football mana...

Re: A thread about pedals

i've never used distortion on an acoustic like that, but I use a pro co rat and electro harmonix big muff most of the time.
also good- ibanez tube screamer, marshall shredmaster and the dod250 which is almost the same as the mxr distortion+ but in a cooler case if you ask me.

Re: Taking musical equipment to other countries

i've never really done it, but i've taken guitars on a plane before and they were fine with it being hand luggage. This was a long haul flight though, looks like short distance budget airlines might do it differently.
if you're taking amps that would probably take some serious excess baggage payments.

Re: haruki murakami

I've read Norwegian Wood and right after completing it I didn't like it at all, but after a few months I find myself thinking about it loads, it's strange how it's stayed with me like that, I normally get that with films, but with books once I'm done with it my opinion doesn't change much normally. ...

Re: The Football

sounds a bit over the top, but i heard that having non-identical socks is one of the most important aspects of the kit as far as the ref is concerned, something to do with when they go in for tackles so the legs don't look all mixed up like a herd of zebras.

Re: The Football

I was just talking about Newport County the other day. Me and mrs humblebee were watching The Big Match Revisited from 1983 on ITV14 or whatever, and they were showing all the league tables (because not just the top division mattered in those days), and Newport were near the top of the third divisi...

Re: The Mac Thread

I found the current macbook cases to be a little flimsy, but i certainly thought they looked nice. I'd say that aluminium enclosures would bump up the price of the macbook line a little too much, but i don't know... i'm surprised that the macbook pro is getting a change, i know that design is basica...

Making music 'for yourself'

This is sort of continuing something of an argument I had with the singer of my band (who might be reading this). He says that he's quite happy to make music and for no one else to hear it. I think that's quite an admirable opinion to have and all that, but I struggle to believe that it's truly poss...

Re: what book are you reading?

I'm just about finished on The Diceman.
I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did, kind of had it down as more style than substance first of all, but I think I've been proved wrong.

Stephen Fry's 'The Hippopotamus' will be next, I loved his autobiography.

Re: The Football

I remember going to see Newport County a few times with my granddad, the taste of the half time burgers still haunts me now. Those were good times, standing around in the rain watching them get thrashed by Rushden and Diamonds or someone like that, rancid burgers at half time and then falling asleep...

I'm listening to 'Tommy' right now, I always get a bit bored of this one...
I always think that their later stuff like Seamonsters is better, Albini's production really adds something different to it all.

Re: Truck Festival

I've talked about going to this festival every year since I was 16, yet somehow I've never made it.
It looks like it'll be the same this year, with ATP and probably Green Man taking up nearly all my money. It's a shame.

Re: The "I just made a song, do you want to listen?" thread.

It's a bit rich of me to be spamming all over the place on just my second post, but there's a demo of a new song on my band's myspace, and it's always nice to get some feedback (and to boost the precious play count, of course). We're called Zissou, which is a name we all hate. http://www.myspace.com...

iWeb is supposed to be decent for it, definitely simple, though I doubt it gives you masses of flexibility. If you can get hold of dreamweaver that does loads and isn't all that complicated really... I don't know much about HTML or website design and I got along with it okay. Unrelated to that, I ju...
