Re: Game of Thrones

I don't think reading the books will necessarily improve or add to your enjoyment of the tv show... some of the book readers online are a bit fanatical about 'canon' and all that sort of stuff... any deviation, however sleight, from the books and they froth at the mouth, so they can be a right pain...

Re: Game of Thrones

You do... ... there's some great characters, locations and situations that occur in the books that I think the show would've benefited from, you get a real feel in the books for how divided the North is and what a dangerous place it's become as a result... I'm sure they could have made more of this...

Re: Game of Thrones

It's the same actor playing Rickon... Art Parkinson... he's clearly had a growth spurt, but yeh, his appearance now compared to when we last saw him made H giggle... it's hard to grasp how much time has passed in GoT, they could help us along in that respect... Without wanting to be one of those bo...

Re: Game of Thrones

Maybe something to with Bloodraven or Bran or perhaps that Jon warged into Ghost when he was stabbed up and needed Mel to do her business before he could warg back into himself (???) I'm interested in why Hodor became Hodor and only says 'Hodor', I read somewhere else that 'Hodur' is a Norse god, w...

Re: Game of Thrones

Ahem... I'm not sure it was Mel who brought Jon back... not directly... I think Ghost had something to do with it... although Mel's blood magic to kill off the three kings (Robb, Joffrey, Balon) finally paid off last night but I think that was less to do with her magic than having all these terrible...

Re: nonfiction books about '60s girl groups, soul, pop rock?

Most of these are on my 'to read' list rather than 'read' list and some cropped up when I was checking titles, spellings of author's names. Some will be out of print: The Mary Wells book by Peter Benjaminson ('The Tumultuous Life of Motown's First Superstar') Benjaminson's book on Florence Ballard o...

The Answers (with justifications)! Part one 1. 14 Iced Bears (The names of 14 fictional bears + glazed, like an iced bun for 'Iced') 2. A Smile And A Ribbon (Anag. of 'Blobs in a marinade'. Patience and Prudence recorded the song of the same name, which was the b-side to the single 'Tonight You Belo...

Re: last.fm

I'm a bit useless at explaining stuff like this but you can see what people are playing now ('scrobbling now') and what the last track was that they scrobbled by clicking on the little last.fm scrobbler icon on your taskbar (does everyone have taskbars?) and then the scrobbler 'interface panel' appe...

Re: last.fm

I reinstalled last.fm a few weeks back... lost it when my laptop blew up last year and I was going to put it back on when they changed everything and I was filled with uncertainty but I'm back on now... so, yeh, scrobbling again

I've got three but I haven't had time to have a proper look at it. You do rather ruin the joining in aspect by telling everybody not to post : ) Oh I only meant don't post the answers... not yet... Hmm... if it helps the band order is alphabetical with the first answer being a band that begins with...

Something for the weekend: Cryptic POP!

With something of a surfeit of time on my hands I've done a quiz... fifty clues to fifty indiePOP!/Anorakish bands... some of the clues include anagrams, some do not... don't post your answers, it's just a bit of fun, etc... Answers will be posted in a week's time... 1. Baloo, Biffo, Bungle, Fozzie,...
