Music Family Trees

I have a new website, and I thought I'd try it out on a friendly audience. The idea is that it's like Pete Frame's Rock Family Trees, but without the detailed artwork or careful biographical details. Erm, I'm not selling this very well, am I? Go over to Music Family Trees , enter the name of a band,...

A friend of mine is stopping in and working on the jigsaw she got for Christmas. I've heard worse plans. It's got kittens on it and everything.

Re: ATP Presents BOWLIE 2 Festival Curated by Belle & Sebast

Franz Ferdinand versus How Does It Feel to Be Loved? is the worst for me, I think. I don't think it's much of a clash. HDIF starts 12.30, the "secret" band ends at 12.45. Unless the times have changed and I haven't noticed.... Ah, all they've announced is "11.00pm-3.00am - DJs To be confirmed", so ...

Re: ATP Presents BOWLIE 2 Festival Curated by Belle & Sebast

One small point - the last.fm highlighting thing might be a bit off. Belle & Sebastian are my second-most-listened-to artist on last.fm (4,000+ plays) but they're not highlighted on my chart. Does it depend on having listened to them a lot recently or does the information come from my overall chart...

Do you have dates for our diaries, or are you building these up for a big "tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday"-style announcement?

Re: Birmingham

Anyone got any good listings contacts for gigs n stuff? So far I've got WOIB and All Brum. I can't find a contact for Metro (there were non on the bus this morning, and the website's a nightmare. See also: Birmingham Mail). Any other ideas? I'm aware of a few without a local focus: Last.fm . There ...

There's quite a bit of non-festival stuff, too, like Robin Ince at the MAC or Andrew Lawrence at the Little Civic.

Is this the manner in which one is expected to open an exchange with a stranger? Does this explain where I've been going wrong all these years, with my pathetic non-Boom-Shack-A-Lak-based conversational gambits?

I think there's a sign at the front of the bus saying you're not allowed to eat or drink while on board. Judging by the amount of Tizer cans that hit my foot on the average journey, it's an unenforced rule. Well, who would enforce it? The driver's too busy driving his bus to check that no-one's hav...

Re: Indietracks 2010 memories and photos

It was like dancing at one of those silent discos where everyones wearing headphones. What? That sounds horrific. Does this actually happen? Yeah, they have them at the big festivals to get around late-night noise restrictions. The one I went to was surprisingly friendly. It had two sets of headpho...
