Re: Alfreton Travelodge

due to being an old man and the associated heavy grooming needs i'm staying at the travelodge this year. can a travelodge veteran tell me what the deal with getting back at night is? i'd happily be in bed by 10 every night, but having a young trophy wife she's eager to sample the various discos. so...

Re: And eeeeeeeeeeeee! some more

I'm starting to get my first twinges of pre-Indietits excitement. It's going to be ace, isn't it? I'm just hoping that my old car can make the 800-mile round trip unscatched. IT BETTER! Indietracks fever is starting for me with the arrival of Señor Cloudberry tomorrow morning. And then all the warm...

Re: The Sweet Nothings

Where is Park Hill? Is it in Sheffield? I'm reminded of some buildings with jellybean-coloured balconies near Holloway Road station here in London.

Re: Veronica Falls

This band seem to have quite of a lot of stuff coming up - have been mentioned quite a lot in the New Albums thread - so thought i'd start a thread for them specifically. They have their own website: http://veronicafalls.com/ If you sign up for mailing from that, then you can download their song 'R...

Re: General Stuff People Want to Know

Jeez, I've realised that I never got round to buying my weekend ticket and now it's broke end-of-the-month time where I'm counting the hours until I get paid next Friday, the day Indietracks starts. o_O Is it possible to buy a ticket on site?

Re: The Sweet Nothings

The artwork is fabulous! Did you do that? I didn't see a credit on your web site about it. The colours are so striking. One of those that you could see in a record shop and be inspired to buy based simply on its bold artwork.

Re: 16.7 LDN Action Biker, Kuryakin, The Sunny Street, Tiger

I've never been to the Underbelly. Too bad the gig's not being held at the Udderbelly! (I really want a good entertainment reason to go inside the purple upside down cow). A fantastic line-up this Saturday. I'm looking forward to the double Swedish delight and my favourite London-based melancholy, s...

Re: London is great

Jeez I could really use a drink and smiling faces but it's day two of my new super intense job and I don't have the energy to travel down to Brixton (and then home) from here and be social right now. Argh. Pub club, have fun.

Re: Big Pink Cake Summertime Special Sat July 2nd Bristol

Like everyone else, I had a wonderful time at the Big Pink Cake All-dayer as well (and in Bristol too). I'm sad I missed The Fireworks' debut performance but our train got in quite close to starting time and the Facebook event listed the bands in the incorrect order! I thought Lonely Tourist held hi...

Re: 23 Jul LDN Amor De Dias/Tiny Fireflies/The Sunny Street

One of the greatest things about The Sunny Street playing New York was getting to meet Lisle and Kristine and seeing Tiny Fireflies play. I promised them we'd play together when they came to England with Very Truly Yours so - here it is. Amor De Dias complete the bill, righting the wrong that they ...

Re: Glasgow

A dollop of trivia Heavenly (Indie-cafe-bar-type-thing in Glasgow) asked a question on facebook, asking people to vote for their favourite album cover from a list of 10. The 5 most popular albums are to be featured on the walls of Heavenly throughout July. The art work with most votes was…………….. Th...

Re: España

I've been to spain 3 times since being vegan, I never had any trouble. True, most of that time's been spent in Mardrid and Barcelona. Happy Cow lists veg*n friendly cafes/restaurants/healthfood stores. And if you self cater then you're fine and dandy anyhow :-D Thanks for this link. We'll be in sma...

Re: Alfreton Travelodge

Isn't it like £6 for a full breakfast or am I making that up? I know the veggie breakfast is cheaper than the OLYMPIC breakfast. I counter that anyway with a nice fruit smoothie and herbal tea from that delicious coffee stand at the 'tracks. The taxi situation at Butterley at 12:15am isn't that bad....

Re: España

Granada is supposed to be hella beautiful and I'm glad I'll be able to judge myself for the trip we've booked to Spain for early September! We'll be doing: * Granada for a few days (awesome city time) * Alhama, Almeria (at home with the family time) * San Jose, Almeria (beach time!) And I get to tak...

Sometimes I think the Very Truly Yours, Fireflies and Tiny Fireflies threads should be merged, or at least the latter two... Anyway, Fireflies now has a new collection of demos and unreleased songs on bandcamp called "At Home." You can also name your own price for the download! That's pretty ace. I ...

Re: Alfreton Travelodge

I'm at the Travelodge, but I'm fickle when it comes to breakfast. Did a Tesco/Sainsburys combination last year. Pondering braving the Wetherspoons this year. I'm making my Travelodge debut this year. I might play dirty and take vaccum packed freeze-dried food. And eat it raw. I don't like this tota...

Aw, Marianthi. Sent to me by Jamie some time ago (my introduction to them), this brilliantly simple and very apt belter:

* Dorotea - The Days are Short When You Work

And hell yeah, it's on Spotify!

I'm lovin' this 2-night residency in London, the week of Indietracks (So many shows! Can we handle it?). July 24 & 25 at the Lexington. Looks like Sunday is the more gentle, reflective, melancholy night - "AN EVENING OF FINGER-CLICKIN' HEARTBREAKERS". Monday looks to be the hip-shaking night - "AN E...

their names not a nod to the song of the same title by my favourite, is it? I'm pretty sure it is. I remember reading an interview with Henry somewhere and I think he did mention his love for the My Favorite song. The new EP is pretty good. Doesn't match the glorious, sensual heights of their previ...
