Grindcore/Indie Pop connections??
I know one: The drummer from IN DISGUST was also the drummer for SOURPATCH!! Any others??? [I learned guitar to start my own pop band (Bee Stings) and we are working on our grindcore alter-ego (Stung By Bees). Because these disparate genres are my love and my life, and what if there was a band that ...

Re: Band t-shirts
In addition to my decade old punk and grindcore t-shirts, I recently added some fly indie pop joints to my sparse wardrobe: Sarah Records (black with a pink cat listening to a dansette. looks dope as fuck with my bullet belt), Beat Happening (cream colored with the first album cover), and Heavenly (...

Re: Things I am listening to now then
My friend played one of their records over the weekend and I'm pretty enthralled with them, this song in particular

Re: The "I just made a song, do you want to listen?" thread.
I didn't record a song, but I wanted to announce that occasional anorak poster "malaise" has learned to play guitar and started a band! It's kind of half formed because our bassist/vocalist dropped out, but the drummer is totally on board for this project. Right now we are working on POP songs until...

Re: The folk
It's actually from the early 70's. It's a sad, sad album and one of my favorite autumn/winter records.

Re: The Sarah Records thread
I figured it was because of his accent. There were moments when I couldn't understand other people either. I had the same problem when I was trying to watch the Creation Records doc, except much worse. I couldn't even get through that one! Anyway, great film! It made me ache for the days when I coul...

Re: The Sarah Records thread
I finally saw the documentary and I couldn't understand anything Matt was saying.
Re: Po!
I used to listen the Bedroom Tapes a lot after I found them on a now-defunct blog. My favorite song was "The Mad Girl." I never heard the records though! I think I have some Ruth's Refrigerator stuff that I was into. I'll have to revisit.

Re: So how do you listen to music now?
I hardly listen to music at all anymore. I used to sit in front of my stereo for hours at a time, but now my attention span is shit and nothing really moves me. I'll listen to some unfamiliar albums that I downloaded if I have to take a long drive, but I don't spend time with and absorb music like I...

Re: learning languages
Yeah not having tables of conjugations totally flies in the face of my instincts. I decided though, to just relax and do the courses and hopefully it will eventually click. Duolingo and Mango are both okay, better if used together, but it is a lot of work for really slow results. (I'm fucking with 4...

Re: Seasonal Records
Usually I associate records with the seasons I happened to get into them.
Snowy winter mornings: The Carousel - I Forgot To Remember To Forget
Snowy winter evenings: Leonard Cohen - Songs of Love and Hate
Lots of others too, but those are standouts of the past 8 or so years.

learning languages
Anyone have any experience with online language classes? If so, were you able to achieve some level of proficiency without books or an instructor? The other day I started using two websites/apps (Duolingo and Mango) for German, Spanish, and French. I'm sad that I'm already forgetting the German I le...

Vånna Inget - Ingen Botten LP. Saw them last night and they were fantastic. I don't know, maybe if you liked Wax Idols you would dig em.

I wonder if there's any chance of this showing in the U.S. ever? I know of someone in Pgh whose attention I could bring it to. How much is that DVD though?
