Re: Indietracks 2014 Photos and Memories

THANK YOU! I love organizing this festival with the rest of Team Indietracks and the Midland Railway just to see how happy it makes everyone. It was a great year - exhausting but great. Even though I hardly saw any bands, became far too closely acquainted with the instrument storeroom key and had to...

Re: The Understudies

Hello. Been a while but we have some exciting news - OUR DEBUT ALBUM IS OUT NOW! It's called ' Let Desire Guide Your Hand' , was recorded at Soup Studios with a big hand from A Little Orchestra and it's bloody brilliant - I can say that since I'm not on it much, actually. Digital download here: http...

Re: Indietracks 2013 Photos and Memories

That is a great photo, Dennis. The singalong on Sunday night was probably my highlight too. Or maybe The Lovely Eggs? Or playing with The Understudies and the Little Orchestra? Or seeing a Stormtrooper walking down the coffee and tea aisle of Sainsbury on Saturday morning. Thank you to everyone who ...

Re: London Popfest 2013 - 1 to 3 March 2013

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. Being a popfest/ indietracks team member for many a year now, having the same old diehards sticking the boot in is water off a duck's back these days. Totally proud of the line up this year, every show was jam packed and pretty much the biggest crowd we've had...

Re: London Popfest 2013 - 1 to 3 March 2013

Hello. Yep, Popfest is pretty much all sold out now. Only Sunday tickets are left and there's not many of those either. http://www.wegottickets.com/f/5343 We've got dancing along with all the bands. Any Friday popfesters can walk up the road to How Does It Feel in Brixton and get in for 3 quid. Hand...

Re: gender equality and indiepop

And you should be. The line up was amazing. And some of the strongest current female indiepop voices were there. You should have come, then! Team indietracks is mostly female (5 out of 7) so you've got the girls to thank for making the whole thing happen. We also raised a heap of money for the Midl...

Re: gender equality and indiepop

Worked at stats for Odd Box shows since I started - broken down by years: 2009 - 25/75 2010 - 28/72 2011 - 31/69 2012 - 35/65 Figures are skewed a little as some years I put the same band on 3/4 times due to having a release out which needed selling - so it's not really a free choice for every show...

Re: A thread about putting on DIY gigs

I hope that Chris TT article doesn't empower bands in the indiepop scene to start asking for guarantees or meddling with the ticket price - they'll find gigs a lot harder to come by if they do. For me, being in a band, I'd rather take less money and play to more people. I don't want to travel to pl...

Re: A thread about putting on DIY gigs

It's been a fiver for over 12 years in London and I can't quite fathom why - beer has doubled in price in the same time. I charge a fiver because I'm scared shitless no one will turn up so I charge as little as is possible whilst still giving myself a fair chance I can cover all costs. What is the ...

I'm enjoying Proper Ornaments at the moment, I've listened to Who Thought loads - excited to see them at Indietracks. http://soundcloud.com/bordeleaumathieu/who-thought-the-proper Not that new but Frozy are pretty great if you like that badly recorded Beat Happening sound. http://frozy.bandcamp.com/...

People of the capital, it is Pub Club tomorrow night at some trendy, northern London pub called The Colonel Fawcett. http://thecolonelfawcett.co.uk/mainsite/ Come and drink, argue about the fucking 'T word', and take to the streets in open rebellion against this regime of upper-class arses. Maybe h...

Re: Your Indietracks 2012 Wishlist (and actual announcements

Not quite Trev. Edwyn or TFC could sell out Shepherd's Bush Empire (at least) without breaking a sweat, but Allo Darlin', fantastic as they are, aren't quite there yet. As I say, I'm happy for it to be at this level now and have argued for it to be that in the past, but I was just wondering whether...

Well, It'll be me or Matthew doing the door most likely so she can come in. No NUS discount, mind.

I've no idea, over 18 I guess. This will be an 18 rated gig as I think Carys might swear on stage.
