Coventry & Warwickshire
I'm well aware I'm on a hiding to nothing here, but I've now (sort of) moved to Cov and I was wondering if a) there was ANYTHING going on here and b) if there are any other indiepoppers in the area. If nothing else, I'm hoping the Birminghams might swing by occasionally and tell me about all the exc...

Re: Real things that should be band names but aren't
The Sainsburys at Fosse Park has a whole aisle dedicated to Ambient Fruit, which has to be the best name for a prog rock band ever!

Very excited about playing in the car park again this year. Have we been officially instated as the GUTC house band yet?

If we're extending it to people's names, surely Goodluck Jonathan has to be on the list?

On a similar political theme, how about 'The Rainbow Alliance Beer, Fags and Skittles Party'?

Re: Leicester Indiepop Alldayer 2014, 22nd March
The Cookie's basement is a nice space and very central, but I don't know about their hire charges and they have their Sunday Social between 6 and 9. Apparently the Looking Glass is under new management, but it's a bit far out and, again, I don't know about availability/charges. Cafe Bruxelles were t...

Re: Real things that should be band names but aren't
This one's a film, rather than an organisation, but I always thought that "Progressive Farming in Basutoland" would make an excellent band name!

Re: Christmas Songs!(I made one... but can you recommend oth
P.S You'll never guess who is dressed as Father Christmas in that photo ;) It looks like John Craven! I'll be really disappointed if it isn't. I'd not heard that Research song, it's ACE! I love Christmas songs - all Christmas songs - but my favourite indiepop Christmas song is probably 'Merry Chris...

You could ask Kev and Linda from Cherry Coloured Pop/Ready Steady Girls to do the disco. They have their own kit and play everything on vinyl. They also know how to get a room going (ask anyone who's been to Going Up the Country!).

Re: Leicester
The record shop was Backtracks. It used to be in a very damp basement in Cank Street and probably moved to the arcade in the early 90s? Well Gosh (now on the High Street - sells a lot of 'designer'/surfer stuff) was a 2nd hand clothes shop and The Wardrobe (now in Royal Arcade) also used to be in th...

The stupid thesis is in which means THE SUNBATHERS ARE BACK!!!!!!! If you have a slot on your bill that's crying out for a small but perfectly formed acoustic duo from the landlocked East Midlands who write songs about the sea, we're your band! You can PM me or The Sunbathers here, or email us at in...

I am so distraught that we didn't make this is the end (I was in the office til nearly 11 still trying to beat my thesis into submission!). Was it, in fact, the best thing ever?

Re: Boring Indie
I beg to differ that all music may by 15 year olds is necessarily rubbish. My son's band (sadly now no more, due to a chair throwing incident) were all 15-17 when they recorded their first EP and its a masterpiece compared to that.

Just been trawling through lists of Sue Jay reports on the MACE website and stumbled across this! http://www.macearchive.org/Archive/Title/atv-today-12101972-cliff-railway-at-bridgnorth/MediaEntry/18118.html p.s. I think they've changed their media player recently and wouldn't work in Chrome, but se...

i second what would you want a japanese to do? and all the vinyl japan comps, especially http://i.imgur.com/JecYP65.png I don't have this, which is a bit remiss as it features what may be my favourite song of all time - You'll Never Never Know by Dislocation Dance - and one by me too. How often doe...

Re: Colour Me Wednesday
We ordered the Mega Bargain bundle on the internets last night and have been listening to our free download all morning. It's just as awesome as I expected and includes all their live standards, so it turns out I already know most of the words and have been singing along at the top of my voice. I do...
