Re: The Hermit Crabs

Ha, Mel was already the only survivor from those days! Hiya, I'm trying not to ask any awkward questions (that's what Facebook private messages are for), but I just listened to the EP for the first time, is that not Fergie on the guitar? He was certainly with us in NY. I liked the EP, very traditio...

It kicks a hundred asses. I don't think I'll ever be able to sit through the teen-angst of a Spiderman film with a straight face after this film.

Re: Southampton. Famous for...

Southampton has a couple of decent indie-pop gigs at The Joiners coming up - THE SCHOOL are supporting THE BOY LEAST LIKELY TO on Wednesday 25th March & just found out today that THE PAINS OF BEING PURE AT HEART are playing on Saturday 13th June! Pissflaps! Missed the Schools :( Will definitely be ...

Re: The Hermit Crabs

I don't think it rhymes with anything in the song! It's an older song, and before my time, but I believe it's that way because it's about someone whose name is pronounced like that. It's on the myspace if you want to hear, it was the song Matinee put on the Hit Parade compilation (which is full of a...

You can PM them to me Sam, I'll make sure it gets done quickly.

Cheers Lyns!

Re: The Hermit Crabs

Three posts in a row. Oh dear. More songs up now, About You Before is on the Matinée Myspace, while I Don't Know How is on the Matinée website 'cos it's Jimmy's favourite. I wrote the first tune and Fergy wrote the second one, but Mel remains firmly in control of all the words. The drums sound a bit...

Re: A thread about pedals

So with that brand is the consensus that it's better to get the Big Muff or Little Big Muff rather than the Big Muff Bass, and run a bass through that? The Big Muff and the Little Big Muff are both tremendous with bass, it's a versatile pedal. I spent ages (and too much money) trying to find the ri...

Re: The Hermit Crabs

OK! After a fierce struggle with the internet goblins, you can probably now listen to Correspondence Course on our Facebook profile.

It should appear on our Myspace shortly. As for our own website, I think I've fucked it good an' proper :/

Edit: No I haven't, it's working now.

Re: The Hermit Crabs

To be honest David, it's mainly still the same sort of indiepop, but it's got a bit more oomph. Oh yeah, and overdrive pedals in one of the songs (my fault), that's a bit different.

Linz, thanks for the interest :)
I'm at work just now, but I'l try and get something online later tonight.

Re: The Hermit Crabs

Thanks folks! It was October 2007 Sam, I think. I've listened to the masters now, and they're sounding good. We've branched out a bit in the songwriting department this time - Fergy the guitarist wrote one of the tunes and I wrote another, although Mel wrote the lyrics for them and still sings on al...

The Hermit Crabs

Um... I have no idea if it's considered bad form to start your own band's thread or not, but what the hell. We finished our new EP! Today! Tonight, I mean! About 30 minutes ago! Once I have some mp3s, I'll post something online for you to listen to, if you like (and if I'm allowed to). It should be ...

No, he's very serious about this stuff. He runs a comic shop around the corner from my flat and often drinks in the Doublet (my local). Fr Colin Stack finds him particularly amusing.

Re: Amps: the bit the music comes out of

The Peavey Classic is a good recommendation, I have a Classic 20 and it's tremendous, a wee tone monster. If you use stock valves it can be a bit too eager to get dirty on you, but there are alternative tube combinations which give you more clean range and make it very useable. In saying all that, I...

Re: The "I just made a song, do you want to listen?" thread.

Question for yez:

Is there an audio equivalent of Youtube? Y'know, somewhere that you can upload a song to and people can just play it through their web browser instead of having to download an MP3 from yousendit or something. That sort of deal.

Re: Bass Guitars

+1 recommendationizing for the P-J configuration, but you don't necessarily need to have it on a P-bass - I have it on my Jazz, it's awesome. I love having the ability to dial out the jazz pickup and be left with lovely beefy P-bass sounds when needed. http://i19.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/ca/c1/6ead_1.JPG
