Re: last ATPs...

I'm going to both. And then on the Monday after the second one I'm going to see Superchunk in Leeds. And the day after that I'm going to see Rocket From The Crypt in Glasgow. And the day after that I'm going to see Loop in Edinburgh.

NO. SLEEP. IN. DECEMBER. Or something...

Re: here comes sickness: the go-to grunge thread

They did Where The Flavor Is in Glasgow, crowd seemed to like it! Quite a lot of the new LP too, the aforementioned Douchebags On Parade was great as was The Only Son Of The Widow From Nain. I really like the last LP (The Lucky Ones), it was a pity they didn't do the title track from that as that's ...

Re: here comes sickness: the go-to grunge thread

I killed the thread. Sorry. However, at least it's reminded me that I've still not seen the Tad film and so must rectify that. Also, if you get a chance to see Mudhoney on this tour then please do so. I've seen them 3 times since they started sounding like Mudhoney again and it's always been a load ...

Re: Edinburgh

Spook School are also playing in Edinburgh on May 18. Unpop are putting them on at the Wee Red Bar. There will (I think) be an Unpop club on afterwards.. Martha are playing at Banshee's Labyrinth on June 5 - which annoyingly clashes with something else that I already have going on. Boo. :( Ooh, I a...

Re: Podcasts

I just remembered that I'm hopeless at promoting my latest podcast but this one features two members of this parish in indiansummer and Mr Bear. A group of us recorded this over the weekend at the Jeff Mangum ATP. Here it is - http://plentyside.blogspot.com/2012/03/plentycast-33-jeff-mangum-atp-cast...

Re: Music small talk, music big talk

That'll be them playing on the Saturday or Sunday of the ATP that weekend then. Did you ever see them Sam? I saw them in front of the proverbial two men and a dog roundabout the time Secret Swingers came out (bizarrely supporting Gold Blade) and interviewed Fontaine (swoon!) and Richard that same ni...

Of the two, I prefer Popular Songs, but I'd get both of them!

Re: Podcasts

Thanks David. I've not really pushed it on here (that one is #13 and we're now up to #25) cos I'm not sure what folk would think of the music choices, especially the noisier ones, but it's cool that you took the time to listen. So aye, if anyone wants to listen to 25 podcasts of not indiepop (apart ...

Oh my... FOREST FRINGE BENEFIT. So, the Forest Fringe, based at the Forest Cafe, is run by two people, one of whom, Deborah Pearson, i met when she repeatedly fell asleep in the front row of my show at the stand in 2007. And who, when called on her snooziness, said. "but everytime i wake up, im happ...

I think I'm the only person in Scotland who doesn't like them but there's enough there to keep me going for the evening. The KC/Pictish set has the potential to be very special indeed.

I'm heading through for the Fence thing, probably not staying til the end so I can get a train home at a reasonable time. The fact that this means I'll miss Kid Canaveral is entirely coincidental...

Re: the 90s indie rock revival *cough*

Chris, did you get to Buffalo Tom in the end? Aye, nae bother, the predicted snowpocalypse didn't really happen and the roads were well clear so all good on that front. Buffalo Tom were AMAZING. You can't really go wrong when 4 of your first 6 songs are Tree House, Summer, Velvet Roof and Sunflower...

Re: the 90s indie rock revival *cough*

I would love it (just loove it) if Versus played over here again. I saw them in Edinburgh (with approximately 8 other people) supporting Gold Blade of all people and interviewed Richard Balyut and Fontaine Toups (swoon!) after they played. They were great, despite playing to such a paltry crowd. The...

I'm going to see Buffalo Tom tonight, unless we get stuck on the M8 cos of the FUCKING SNOW.

I've been waiting 18 years to see them so if I don't then I'll be a tad miffed. To say the least...

Re: Withered Hand

Not sure if folk are aware but Dan is having major hassle trying to get his visa for the US to play at South By Southwest. Apparently they are unconvinced that he is "a musician of extraordinary ability" so they might not let him in. It's a ridiculous and farcical state of affairs so if anyone knows...
