Re: Fish and other finny friends

Do you mean that I should let them make babies and then eat the babies? I couldn't! Nature is fucked up and must be separated!

Re: Fish and other finny friends

Thanks for that website, it does have answers to most of my questions, but I have so many fish questions I don't even know where to start. I'm not afraid of more babies coming but I'm still not exactly sure about the logistics of tiny fish giving birth to even tinier fish in my apartment. I feel lik...

Re: what book are you reading?

I agree and disagree with bits of this... i think it's kinda implied that, as the man gets confused about his determination for himself and the boy to be 'the good guys' and just falls into some sort of survivalist nutjob, the other family have been following for a while and would've liked to help ...

Re: Fish and other finny friends

No.. should it be? It's on my bookshelf. Now I'm worried! Is the water just at room temperature then? It should be heated, same as the main tank. Unless I'm missing something obvious. It wouldn't be the first time. No no, it's me missing everything. I'm a new mother, still learning! But I did think...

Where have you put the Ikea juice glass? Is it somehow inside the main fish tank?

Re: Fish and other finny friends

I have fish! Does anyone else have fish, or just fish expertise? I have no idea what to do with them. I mean, I know i'm not supposed to take them out for walks and stuff but I'm totally lost on this idea of separating the babies so their parents don't eat them. It never occurred to me to ask the pr...

Re: what book are you reading?

Not sure of everyone else's views on this but i loved the ending... i found it strangely uplifting. I completely didn't. I found it utterly bleak and futile. Which I liked about it. But definitely not uplifting. SEMI-SPOILER: The man had been living a lie, full of self-importance which was ultimate...

Re: what book are you reading?

Not sure of everyone else's views on this but i loved the ending... i found it strangely uplifting. That's exactly what I didn't like about it. If I want to be uplifted by something I wouldn't be reading books by Cormac McCarthy. I have Jane Austen and church for that sort of thing. I didn't want t...

Re: what book are you reading?

I quite enjoyed the one Roth book I read... Just finished Cormac MaCarthy's The Road - I have a lot to say about it but it's not all good... Anyone else enjoy / read / dislike this book? I just finished reading that.. I couldn't put it down, it was really stunning, if that's the right word. I've ne...

Re: Nintendo Wii

I love Wii tennis SO much but the last time I played I broke my friend's light fixture. I was trying to do a monstrous smash right over my head to really embarrass my opponent. The next thing I knew there was broken glass everywhere and I was only allowed to play Wii bowling.

Re: Pine Nut Problems

So this is where pesto regret comes from. I like "Pine Mouth" though. What a rugged ailment. Well I'm certainly regretting it, but what's Pesto Regret? It's gone now thankfully. Well thankfully I've never had severe Pine Mouth but sometimes I do get a little bit of that nasty sensation you describe...

No, it's not true. In some parts of the world, mushrooms are taken very seriously, and picking wild mushrooms in the forest is something people actually do for fun, like table tennis.

Tinned mushrooms? Vom.

Re: Kitchen Q&A (or, Ask Anorak about cooking and stuff)

Can someone explain to me why you can't wash a damn mushroom anymore without someone telling you that you should absolutely never wash a mushroom? This is insanity, right? They're dirty so I wash them. And I've always washed mushrooms. I like washing mushrooms! I like the way they swirl around a col...

I'm reading Suite Francaise, after meaning to read it for years. It's perfect. There's a chapter narrated by a cat, best thing I've ever read.

And as always, I'm hoping to see Rick Steves. ME TOO! Tell me if you spot him. I guess I haven't traveled around Europe in the summer to have found him on his mainland travels but he sometimes comes to the UK! I miss Rick Steves shows. I don't know his shows very well, but I love his books. I think...

I think the Dali museum is one of the most disappointing museums I've ever been to. The Rodin museum is wonderful though. Anyway, I'm going to Paris next week. I'm excited but scared that it will take all my money. And as always, I'm hoping to see Rick Steves.

Re: Krakow

Being a vegetarian shouldn't be a problem, as Krakow's a pretty big touristy city. But I don't know what vegetarians do in the country in these parts, or in places where tourists don't go. I need to do some research but I'll be darned if the bread doesn't taste like ham and the ice cream like chicke...
