I think the most amazing person to see the Lucksmiths with is my friend Chris. He lives in Canada though, damn it. But anyway, yes, I am going to Indietracks! See you there!

Re: what book are you reading?

In many ways I'm still recovering from Gilead and I don't know when I'll get round to reading this one but I kept meaning to say that I thought the idea of writing about the same story from a different perspective is wonderful. Has anyone read her essays? Recovering? It's not that bad, is it? I hav...

Re: Kitchen Q&A (or, Ask Anorak about cooking and stuff)

Just to confuse matters further, I've never scooped out an aubergine in my life -- I just poke a few holes in it with a fork or a knife, pour some oil in a tin, and roast it until it's all flat and soft. Then I open it up. It's usually all soft and gooey. And now I worry that this sounds filthy, too...

Re: Kitchen Q&A (or, Ask Anorak about cooking and stuff)

do most people here cook with extra virgin olive oil? we do, but i've heard that it's better for salads and flavouring etc. instead of for cooking, and that you should be cooking with any bog-standard oil/olive oil. basically that it's too good to be used to cook with! We use it all the time and so...

Dimitra, I hate to disappoint you but I was told they will be in Europe only for 2 to 3 weeks maximum - don't think they are playing Indietracks. You and Martijn are coming to London though, aren't you? We will, but only if it is after the 10th of July, or on a weekend. There is just no way I could...

Re: It's terrific by train

We went on some of those Scottish lines a few years ago... Perhaps Martijn remembers the details better than I do? If the Far Northern line is what I think it is, we went on it. And it is was lovely. And then we went to Orkney and that was lovely too.

Re: a thread of Pocketbooks' own

I love 'Paper aeroplanes' because: a) It sounds like the Style Council b) It talks about paper aeroplanes, which is one of my favourite things to think of c) It is wonderfully written, like every other Pocketbooks song in existence d) It is set in the early morning, and I can sit here with my coffee...
