Re: The Swapsies

Hello! It's taken ages but we finally have new songs out! It's a double A side single with songs called 'Piglet and Pooh' and 'The Trouble with Lee' (about Lee Mavers from the La's). We've had some 7" vinyl made with artwork that looks like this: https://f1.bcbits.com/img/a0365560968_16.jpg (gosh th...

Just got round to listening to the album after getting it from Alex when he opened for Hillary and The Democrats on Friday. It's ace!

Re: Belle and Sebastian

Anyone else splash out on the 4LP box set? It's a lovely thing. It's kind of 4 separate EPs like they used to release. I'm totally confused about track listing when it came to putting it on my mp3 player - should I be listening to it in the order it is on the regular LP or should I keep it in the or...

Re: The Possibilities Are Endless - Edwyn Collins documentar

Fantastic, wasn't it? Me and Ed accidentally ended up being first at the signing queue when we were waiting to pay for postcards so he ended up getting one autographed. Apologies for butting in if you were in the queue. ~smiley face~ It'll be 34 years next month since I first saw Orange Juice. Time...

Re: The Possibilities Are Endless - Edwyn Collins documentar

Me and Huw are going to the Manchester Q&A on Friday night. Really looking forward to it. The two times I've seen him play live have been a couple of the most life affirming shows I've ever been to. He just generally seems thrilled to be back doing what he does. And the pride with which he introduce...

As someone who saw both these shows during a whistle-stop trip to Edinburgh in August, I can heartily recommend both these shows! Great songs in both and generally just really warm and funny. Go if you can!

Re: Glasgow

This might be too late. My friend stopped here and liked it: http://www.citizenm.com/destinations/glasgow/glasgow-hotel Ooh, that looks pretty smart. Thanks for the reply. We ended up in this place: http://www.grasshoppersglasgow.com/ right by Central station. It was pretty fancy by our standards -...

Re: what book are you reading?

I'm coming to the end of Margaret Atwood's MaddAddam. I've really enjoyed the trilogy but boy do I wish I'd re-read the first two before this one. There's a recap at the beginning but I'd forgotten so much of it! Reckon I'll go back and re-read all three in a row at some point. I wonder how it'll lo...

Re: Glasgow

Do any Glasgow folks or those who've visited lately have any recommendations of somewhere nice to stay for a night? Planning a day out next month and stopping over on a Friday night. We've got dead cheap train tickets but haven't booked anywhere to stay yet. I've only been once before and stayed in ...

Re: The Swapsies

We've made a new EP! You can listen to it over on our Bandcamp page: http://theswapsies.bandcamp.com/album/sparrows-ep A few months ago, we asked the totally lovely Young Explorer if they might like to make a zine to go with one of our songs which tells the story of sparrows from Liverpool being int...

Re: DIY Record Labels - A List

My friends run Rekordmeister Music which puts stuff out intermittently. Usually CD-Rs but occasionally put their name to a vinyl release. I'll let you be the judge of whether they fall within the scope of this list or not!

Re: Indie Pop Football

I saw Leighton Baines at the Euros Childs gig in Liverpool last night. He left before Euros came onstage though (after Bill Ryder Jones had played). So y'know, this anecdote (if you can call it that) probably doesn't belong in this thread after all.

Aye, Dafydd is Huw's brother. I was at Uni with Tom from L'amour des reves if you know him? That's about my only musical Sheffield link these days!

Someone may already have asked several times.. Sorry Dan! Sheffield's top of my list an all! I lived there for four years of University and had a lovely time. I'd love to come back! It's been pretty bloomin' agonising each time you've asked us and we've not been able to work it. I hope it doesn't p...
