It's still six months away, but I think it's about time to start announcing the bands. Perhaps one a day? If there's forty that'll take until about mid-March, by then it'll only be just over four months to wait and won't sound so bad.

I've named this thread "Indietracks Festival Band Announcements", hopefully it'll keep to just that, then have other threads as appropriatte, rather than having just one indietracks thread like last year which got massive and everything kept being repeated as it was impossible for people just finding the thread to read it all.

My current thoughts are to put the tickets on sale in about a fortnight once there's been a few bands announced. As with last year camping will have to be booked seperate, feel free to book that at anytime!

First act to announce is one of last year's headliners, and the one of the winners of the come-back vote, Darren Hayman.

This time Darren will be playing in the church, without The Secondary Modern but with some guests.

After last year I might give camping a miss. How far is it to Alfreton Travelodge by foot again?

And it's not as ruddy noisy as the camp site, I shouldn't think.

That sounds doable, then. Ta.

I can't decide whether to camp or not this year. If the weather is good camping will be fine - but I am getting older and am not sure that my back is upto a couple of nights without a bed. I think I might have to Travelodge it as well.

i wanted to camp last year, but was told in no uncertain terms by the missus that wasnt going to happen.. It's just easier in the travelodge, no need to worry about tents or sleeping bags.. just throw some clothes into the back of the car and away you go..

I've just booked this years stay so we're all set again.

oh, and has everyone seen the front page on indietracks.co.uk that picture is fantastic.

Anyway, as Stuart said, we should be talking about bands here - Darren Hayman in the church - i feel that will be quite busy

I might camp it up but this year I'll be packing a machete and hockey mask and if any whinnying cunt with a wind up record player thinks it's FUN to play sussudio by phil collins at three in the morning I'll vent my spleen by venting theirs

I'd guess so - unless it clashes with something big on the main stage (fingers crossed the mainstage is outside this year!).

Also playing: The Kabeedies. Possibly a new act to most people, they're on Cherryade records and have a Maida Vale Radio 1 recording session next week.

I also meant to say, particulary for anyone planning travel / accomodation this early, there'll likely be something happening on the Friday night as well this year. Don't know exactly what yet, perhaps just on-train disco, or a few bands in the church...

FANTASTIC news - HOORAH!

I've just got back from seeing Deirdres and Pocketbooks, both GRATE. Call me KRAZY, but is there ANY chance of either/both of them?
