Hello! I'm going to be in Los Angeles between 6th - 9th April and in San Francisco between 10th - 16th April.

Are there any regular clubs or things going on while I'm there, or any gigs or anything? And do you have any recommendations of things we simply must do?

Hungry Beat on every other Saturday:

Also, Part Time Punks every Sunday:

And Club Underground on Fridays:

The band I'm in (sweater girls: http://www.myspace.com/sweatergirls) are playing on the 2nd and 10th of April so you'll just miss us I guess. Not sure of other shows then...

Hey Californians, heard about the earthquake. I know that 4.4 is nothing to you guys, nevertheless, hope everyone is more than okay.

Make sure you go to Amoeba. I miss that place.

Found Amoeba yesterday - good call. Managed to pick up the Comet Gain album I don't have on CD, which was a result.

glad you found amoeba.
= )

if you're hitting up club underground at the echo on friday (haven't been in years, so i can't say if it's fun or not!), there's a great little vinyl shop called origami right near it. it's really small, though. don't expect anything amoeba-sized!

actually, you could make a whole echo park evening out of it. lots of restaurants on sunset blvd (masa, the park, brite spot, two boots pizza, elf cafe, etc!) and bars (short stop, el prado, little joy, the gold room) within a 2 or 3 block span.

not sure of any good shows this week - unfortunately! love is all will be here next week. boo.

la weekly might help with stuff to do:

if i can think of anything else i will post!

i was just about to ask about stuff to do in san francisco as well! we're going in mid-june. (i was thinking of creating a brand new topic for sf. i might use my admin powers and move stuff later. maybe) anyone have any recommendations on where to stay and where we can get some nice veggie food/cute clothes/records? i think we might go to napa valley for a couple of days as well, it looks beautiful!

where abouts are you more specifically? on thursday sea lions are playing in santa barbara and sourpatch apparantly have a show in san jose on friday. i'd personally kill to go to both, but alas, it's not gonna happen.

also, i'd gladly recommend the best ever vegan, mexican restaurant in the world probably, in sf, if that's where you are. it's called gracias madre, and in the mission district on the corner of 18th and something i can't quite remember, but would gladly look up if you're interested.

i had the most amazing sandwich (saying this not being a sandwich kind of person!) on 553 haight street, at a place called love & haight (place wasn't completely veggie). it was a pain to find parking, but so worth it! cheap too! also, if i remember correctly, there should also be an amoeba on haight street, although i didn't get to check it out.

other food recommendations are herbivore - we went to one at 531 divisadero, but there is one located at 983 valencia too (mission disctric).

gracias madre is located at 2211 mission street and is the best thing i could recommend, oh how i wanna go back! a bit pricey, but so so so good.

I read about Gracias Madre somewhere, but now that I actually hear from a person that it's good, I'll have to check it out!
